I thought the book March to Freedom was an amazing and compelling story. The author, Edith Singer, tells us about her life in concentration camps. When she was sixteen, Edith and her family were sent to Auschwitz. There she was separated from her family and had to survive on her own. In the memoir Edith talks about daily life in the camp; and how people survived. She explains the poor living conditions, and how the Jews were treated. The novel also talks about appell, meals and organizieren. To me, the most amazing part was how she and many others stayed optimistic: “If the Germans bother to give me a tattoo number, then they must have some plans for me--some living plans.” This is an example of how she stayed positive. This book gives a firsthand experience of life in a death camp; therefore, I would recommend this book so that people can learn and understand about the Holocaust.

Review of “March to Freedom”
When people think of “March to Freedom”; people have many thoughts in their heads such as, “Is this another Annie Frank clone?” or “Another story to bring back painful memories?” Well this story is not like Annie frank or a very bad painful memory story. This book talks about how Edith, a Jewish prisoner in world war 2, who manages to be strong willed and to never lose faith even if it means being miserable, starved in the worst nazi concentration camp, “Auschwitz.”
This story may bring back memories to many people who were live during that time. For new readers; this book is perfect to show how a dictator who has used prejudice and discrimination can manipulate many citizens to turn hostile to their neighbors and how being mentally strong and faithful can help you overcome the harshness of reality. Reading March to Freedom made me feel like I was in those harsh camps and made me wonder. “Can this all be to real?” I knew many things about world war 2 and how the camps in Nazi Germany worked but I couldn’t say that I knew from a person on first hand experience seen how it actually was.
I never would have known that their was more to know than what was said in history books. In addition, after reading march to freedom, my views on how i thought they were just being exterminated has changed, there was more information in this book than what was read elsewhere one of my favorite quotes from this book is, “God provided this personal miracle for me.” This is true because God does grant us miracles but we don’t see it, God helps us get through the day just as what was performed on Edith. I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to get an insight story on what happened in Auschwitz and other forced labor camps and also for people who love a suspenseful true stories.

March to Freedom Review
March to Freedom is an interesting book because of the day by day experiences of Edith Singer. For example Edith lost her freedom and human rights; however, she still had strength to go on. Her living conditions were horrible because sharing a bunk with fifteen people is not easy. Although the food was disgusting, Edith and others always desired for seconds. I personally really like this book, and I would recommend it to any college student. This book opened up my eyes to the horrible things Germans did do to the prisoners as if it was OK to do. In the book March to Freedom by Edith Singer “random killing of a prisoner occurred repeatedly every Sunday” ("March"). The SS guard wanted to entertain himself on Sundays, and heartlessly used the prisoners as target practice. Day by day was like hell to Edith; she found strength to go on and hope for the best to come. Once the war ended Edith got to go home to her family; however, her brother and father weren’t so fortunate.

Review March to Freedom
This was a very ethical book to read it made me better understand what happened during the holocaust. This book I would recommend to anyone who does not know in detail about the holocaust. March to Freedom talks about how one Edith Singer was able to survive the holocaust. Know I don’t want to give too much away because I want you to read the book next so I will go over some interesting points in the book. In the first chapter we find that the Nazis are taking over or coming into power they force the Jews out of business and out of their houses. They are sent to concentration camps they were told they were going to work that was the case in some respect but not quite. Here is what it said on the signs as they entered the camp, ”Work makes you free” this is what read outside the gates but this was not true. We then find Edith worked to the bone and starving for food. They were able to leave Auschwitz but only when the Germans took them to the gas chamber. That is all I will tell you if you want to know more then go read the book. Now I’m not trying to get you to buy March to Freedom that’s not the case here at all I just think that this book will help you better understand, it sure helped me. This book helps teach us about tolerance, at the end we find the German soldiers asking the Jews if they will say they were nice to them so they won’t be killed by the allies. This book also teaches use that we can’t ever let this sort of thing happen again in anyone’s life time. This is why you should read the book it was an interesting read and if you have nothing better to do then pick up this book.

March to Freedom Review
The book March to Freedom by Edith Singer is a true live story about her living experience during the Holocaust. The book has many pros and cons. It shows the faith, courage, and tolerance of the young girl name Edith. The Faith of this young girl is incredible! When things seem to get worst, somehow she finds hope in living it. Things are not easy, and just get harder by the day. This shows faith in not giving up. It inspires you not to give up hope; always have faith in the bad times. This book gives you specific details in how the Jewish suffered. Edith and the Jewish people got every single thing taken away because of Hitler. It makes you think how Edith survive all throughtout the holocaust. Many Didn’t survive, but the courage of Edith makes survive by thinking she will not die. Edith goes thru so much pain it makes you think about being thankful in everything you have. It’s easy to read and it makes you want to read it to the end. I would suggest this book to all ages; therefore, be ready to read the pain that Edith went thru. Although it may have some cons, it’s a great learning experience. Edith tolerance is shown. Even though the Germans killed many Jews; she does not hate them. I admire Edith incredible strength. This book shows many life lessons; I have learned so many. Being thankful is just of many positive outcomes this book shows.

Review for March to Freedom
March to Freedom is a strong-willed book that will grab your attention and show you what it was like to live in the time of the World’s most devastating time period. Edith Slomovits shows the reader life as a Jew living in Auschwitz, the horrible way they had to live and the way they were treated; it also has some positive outlooks on life for anyone to understand and weigh- in against their own lives. Edith Slomovits and her family are the main focus in the book, and through her and her family’s eyes you can see what it was like to live in Auschwitz. From the poor rations of food that was not even enough to survive on, to the back-breaking labor work, and to the unsafe living conditions, Edith covers everything in depth. March to Freedom is about the Holocaust and does have a somber mood while reading it; however, there are positives that Edith teaches to everyone. Throughout the time she was there, the Jewish people never once stole, beat, or belittled each other. She also stays true to her religion by praying and not giving up hope. But what was the most important thing is the fact that she never left the side of her family, she stayed with them and if anything happened to her family, she was there to help. March to Freedom teaches the reader how to overcome obstacles in life, and it is a very inspiring story.

Review March to Freedom
This book called March to Freedom was an interesting book, because it talks about life and how to live life to the fullest. This book was also very interesting and imaginable; although this book was a real life event it felt and sounds unreal. According to Pg. 42 on March to freedom”. “But after several days in Auschwitz, I realized that this was not a bad dream but a terrible and cruel reality”. This book is not your typical happy story book; this book talks about survival and hatred of people from the past life. There are also a lot of lessons you can learn from this book; one of these lessons were kindness. A perfect example of kindness was Edith singer. Although she was in a brink of life and death she was still able to show kindness and sympathy to her fellow Jews by helping them survive. She gave them blankets when they were cold, and found little things that helped them a lot. (Pg. 85) “Gradually, I supplied myself and the other girls around me with dry military blankets.” One more thing that interests me was her not giving up hope. Although, she was in the brink of dying she still managed to survive the holocaust. She was also mentally hopeful even though she was physically helpless. March to freedom talks about the lives of the Jews in the holocaust; how some of them perished and how some of them survived, and got a chance to tell their tale. This book talks about the lives of people back then, and how some people were treated differently from other people. This is an interesting book to read because some of these events still happen today. Although not exactly the same there is still a lot of common factors that have to do with today’s life. Another thing that was very interesting about this book was how some of the prisoners managed to survive for months, or years with barely enough food. (pg 34) “We had nothing to do but feel our hunger and misery and wait for the next order.” This book is a really good book and should be read by people for the remembrance of the people that were lost in the holocaust.

March to Freedom, by Edith Singer, is a powerful and well written book. Singer provides many vivid and heartbreaking details that helps the reader be engaged as they imagine themselves living within the struggles of survival during the holocaust. The book should be recommended for a mature audience, as it talks about the mental and physical abuse that the Nazis had put the Jews through in an everyday situation during that time. It has a lot of great insight on the history of what life might have actually been like for any Jewish family. Inside March to Freedom, Singer discusses, in great detail, the absolute needed qualities that she used to survive, such as maintaining faith, pride, strong will power, Kindness, and holding on to the ones you love. Anyone looking for an idea of what life might have been like for Jews in these times should most definitely look into reading Edith Singer’s March to Freedom; It is an overall well written book that you can’t possibly regret reading as Singer shares her experiences. I would highly recommend this book, without doubt.

March To Freedom Review
A March to Freedom is a raw uncensored story about the Holocaust, told by someone who not only survived, but also grew from her experience in a Nazi death camp. This story is told through the eyes of a 16-year-old girl. Some events that happen to her only happen to us in our worst nightmares. The Holocaust killed thousands, based upon a difference of opinion. This genocide is an event in history that will never be forgotten. Although this was a terrible time, Edith shows the many ways you can still be optimistic in times of absolute cruelty. Edith was very scared; nevertheless, she prospered through the hard times to have the opportunity to be reunited with her family once again. She had to find her own way to live and deal with her issues. “By writing down my experiences, I let go of some of the painful memories”. (p.10). The way that this story is told by Edith Singer makes you feel like you are holding hands with her as she embarks on her torturous dehumanizing journey to her “March to Freedom”.

March to Freedom Review
March to Freedom is wonderful book because it teaches you valuable life lessons, really high tolerance to the worst type of discrimination, and helps you keep in mind that no matter how tough it gets you can always stick together to get through the bad times. The main character Edith Singer was a terrific example to how to never give up hope and always think positive. Throughout all those horrible living conditions Edith managed to stay calm and help her family and friends get though as much as she could. “They enjoyed seeing how far a hungry person would go for a little extra watery soup.” And “sometimes the guards let the prisoners finish the second helping and then attacked them.” Yet even through the unfairness and backbite of the Nazis Edith Singer still found it in her heart to not be angry with the Germans at the end of the book.

Review to March to Freedom
Throughout March to Freedom, there were some pro and cons. Some pros in the story were that Edith never gave up, and she always had hope. Edith never told herself that she wasn’t going to survivor; she lived day by day and she always had faith that she was going to survivor this horrible holocaust. After the war Edith felt that she had more freedom. She knew she wouldn’t get in trouble anymore for talking when you went supposed to talk. Edith sabotage the bombs, so that they wouldn’t hit the target like it should. Throughout the story, there was a lot of detail. Edith explains what happened everyday and gave specific detail about what happened. She would explain how much food they got a day and what they had to eat even if they didn’t want to. They had to eat everything they got in order to survivor thee holocaust. Edith always took chances throughout the book. Edith would take shoes for other girls and she didn’t think what would happen if she got caught. She traded potatoes for bread because the vegetables were not clean nor cooked. At the end of the book, Edith reunited with her mother and sister. They soon went back to how things were. Not long after the war Edith’s mother died. Some cons throughout the story were the sad memories of friends and family. Edith waited a long time for her father and brother to return, but she realized that they didn’t survivor the holocaust like her, her mother, and her sister. In the book the S.S. officers never gave the prisoners enough food. They would always be hungry because they only at two-time a day for the time they were in the camps. The sleeping conditions were very uncomfortable to all the prisoners because they had to sleep on wooden bunk beds that would always break throughout the night. For example, “The bunk-beds were three levels high-bare wooden planks with no mattresses, no blankets, and no pillows."(Page 35) When the beds broke, Eitu would have to come in and fix the beds. I enjoyed reading March to Freedom because it pointed out many things in life. It taught me that you should enjoy what you have in life because we all have it easy. Edith and the other prisoners had no idea what was going to happen to them and their families. I think everyone should read this book because you learn what these prisoners had to go thru in order to survivor. Not everyone survivor the Holocaust because of the lack of food, energy, and clothing. Edith and the other prisoners that survivor were very lucky. This book also shows the positive things of life; it shows that you have to work hard, listen, and do what others tell you to do in order to have hope in living. I would recommend reading this book because you learn more about what really happened in the Holocaust.

I enjoyed reading March to Freedom because it pointed out a lot of positive aspects of life. Edith Singer had shown the readers many life lessons; one of the lessons that she taught us was that even through the most negative and worst things that there is always a positive to that negative. An example of when she gives us this idea is when she gets the tattoo. She says “I had to find a way to go on, so I tried finding something positive. If the Germans bother to give me a tattoo number, then they must have some plans for me---some living plans,” (page 55). Another thing she teaches us is that in the worse times you should not only think of yourself but to think of others as well. She shows us this when the other girls where freezing cold on their March to Freedom, so she stole some blankets from the militaries cars for the other girls to keep warm; even if that meant risking her own life to do so. During the hardships, all the victims of the concentration camp showed tremendous strength, and life lessons.
Not only did Edith teach us to care about others and look at the positives in life, but she also thought us the meaning of courage and bravery. The fact that she followed all the rules and that she managed to make it through all of the terrible experiences it made her a stronger person. She has shown others that no matter how hard life gets you always have to keep your head up and make it through the hard time because it’s only going to make you a better person in the long run. I personally think that this is a book worth reading; it will teach you many things and get you to realize to never take anything for granted because you never know if you have the chance of losing it all.

Review of March to Freedom
This book is very powerful in many ways; there are some unbelievable and terrible things that we learn throughout the book. The reader learns through Edith’s personal experience’s that no matter how bad a situation is you can always have a positive outlook on it. When Edith is branded on her birthday of all days, she looks at it as a way of surviving and that she will be working. I Personally believe that people should read this book because it is a true story from the inside of what happened during this dark time. It tells her story in such details like the labor camps she visited and the harsh environment that she and these people had to live through. It gives the reader indirect retaliation when all hope is seems lost. Edith Singer takes her readers on an adventure that you might find horrific, yet it is one that people need to know about. It’s a way to get an idea of what really happened there, and understand it from a survivor’s point of view. In March to Freedom Edith tells the reader, “This book is about how we lived, not how we died”(Prologue). This woman is strong and survived though this dark time in history. She did not ask for this to happen to her, nor did she ever think it would ever happen. I believe Edith has the strength to tell us because she wants us to understand what happened and that hopefully something like this will never happen again.

Review March to Freedom
In the book “March to Freedom”, there are strong facts and details about Edith Singer surviving the Holocaust. Families were forced out of their homes and sent to labor camps. People barely survived because there was a limited amount of food, sleeping conditions were horrible, and the clothes worn were not enough to keep the prisoners warm. “The Hardest thing to endure in Auschwitz was the constant subsiding hunger” (34). This shows that many were struggling with the food situation. Every Sunday there would be selections by the “Angel of Death”, weak to one side; strong to the other. Many families were seperated, no one knew if they would ever see their loved ones again.
Edith’s mentality was work and time will pass quicker. Everyday she kept her hope and found inner strength to survive. Throughout the book she meets different people thet help her over come obsticals and finds ways to sabatoge the Germans. She comes up with different ways to earn a little more food for herself and others.
Overall, this book is worth reading. Not only does it desrcribe the horrific image of the Holocaust, but it explans in great detail Edith Singer’s journey throughout her experience in the concentration camps. Her strength, courage, and mental toughness makes u really appreciate what you have in life and don’t take anything for granted.

Review of March to Freedom
In the novel of March to Freedom, there are many descriptive details about the events that occurred during the holocaust. Many of these details share the pros of this horrible event; however, there are many cons that go along with it as well. The main character is a young girl named, Edith Singer. She is one of the very few that survived, and is able to share her side of the story with us today. For many years Edith did not want to remember the past till one day she realized that sharing her story would be beneficial for the younger generation. In her novel she shares some of the most unbelievable events; one’s she experienced in Auschwitz. She explains how living conditions were, how she was beaten, how she was scarred, and most of all how she managed to survive. Edith shares how she learned to become optimistic, and how she became mentally and physically strong. “If the Germans bother to give me a tattoo number, then they must have some plans for me- some living plans. To send me to the gas chamber, they don’t need a number. Perhaps they will send me away to work- away from this hell called Auschwitz. I am not going to die here!” Edith said to herself. This was an example of how she made many negative situations into positives because it was needed in order to survive. This novel definitely shares what is was like to be a prisoner in a concentration camp; therefore, I believe the younger generation should read this book for the captivating experience.

Review of March to Freedom
In March to Freedom, Edith Singer shares her experience through the Holocaust; a horrible time in history where millions of Jews died in genocide. Throughout her experience she stays positive and having faith, “As long as I’m alive, I am a human being.” She stays strong through separation from her family; however, it all happened so quickly. Edith shares on Auschwitz, Taucha, and the people that she met leaving an impact on her. Unfortunately, the holocaust will forever haunt the Jewish survivors mentally and physically. “Ever since then, I have had an aversion for standing in lines, especially, for anything that is not essential, such as movies, amusement parks, and restaurants.” Having have read this book, it gives me gratitude that I’m alive and have the simple luxuries that Americans do. The memoir to a March to Freedom is an inspiration to all people who read it; through the words of a survivor it brings hope to the race.

March to Freedom is a book that an individual can get a lot out of and I would recommend someone to read it. Edith Singer is a young girl that is in a concentration camp for a year and on no account loses hope and faith throughout her time spent there. Her living conditions are dreadful and her food was not desirable for anyone, but here when can learn not to take anything for guaranteed. Edith finds any kind of optimism to bear on through her conditions; her mental strength is dominant. Throughout the book Edith shows an immense amount of force to not let individuals (Germans) obtain her human self-respect. Edith was getting tattooed by the Germans; however, she felt hopeful and that “they could not take away my will to live” (55). She knows how to take a negative situation and turn it into something constructive. In her book, Edith talked about how petrified she was, but “knew I could not go on if I were terrified all the time. I wanted to survive” (34). She knew her mental strength would help her stay alive. I consider this book can help an individual to look at life in broader path, and expand one’s eyes to a different perspective.

“After they finished tattooing me, I did not feel humiliated at all. I felt hopeful. I will live!” (March to Freedom Pg. 55).These words are said by Edith Singer in the book A March to Freedom: A memoir of the holocaust, one of the most inspiring books one can read. This book is about the torturous and difficult things the Jews had to go through in the Nazi death camps, but the book focuses mainly on one particular story of a young girl named Edith who, throughout her entire time there, seems to keep hope finding it in the little things around her. She also had the faith to keep moving on and had the will to keep practicing her faith even though she was persecuted in the most inhumane ways. This book describes the strength and courage of a sixteen year old girl who not only fought for survival in the toughest conditions to live, but she also fought the Nazis indirectly with her wit and will to live. She was only a young girl when she entered Auschwitz, but the time she spent in this camp, and the things she endured gave her the qualities of a grown woman.

Review of March to Freedom
March to Freedom is a wonderful book to read. Edith Singer the author of March to Freedom, survive the war but threw out the book she risks her life for others. In the beginning Singer risked her life so her sister Lilly, can have some type of clothing. Singer says “When no SS guards or Kapos were around, I sneaked in, snatched the first piece of clothing I saw, and ran out. I did not stop running until I reached Lilly at the fence.” Singer didn’tcare that she might be killed if she was caught; in facted, she just tried whatever she can for Lilly. Also Singer talks about how she had to work to live. Singer went to another camp to work and make bombs for the Nazis. While she was in the camp, she sabotages the bombs. By this act, if she was caught she would have been killed. Lastly Edith Singer, until the very end, helped the girls survive by steeling solders blankets. The women used these blankets for shelter when it rains. Threw out the book Edith Singer risked her life just to help others and to save herself. Over all, this is a great book to ready because of the different ways Singer helped others.

Review of March to Freedom
The book March to Freedom is an interesting book to read; it shows much strength to a negative side and turns them in to positives. In the book all the Jews in Germany were sent to camps where they were separated from their families, and either sent to die in gas chambers or to live and work in the camps with horrible living conditions. The Germans give some Jews tattoos which was a way of naming them or just keeping track of the Jews; “if the Germans bother to give me a tattoo number, then they must have plans for me-some living plans.” Another way Edith (main character) saw a brighter side to the story was in sleeping Edith looked forward to sleeping, because she didn’t have to do any horrible jobs or stand in lines for roll call naked to see if she was going to live or die. Sleep is where she got away from everything bad. Everything was taking away from the Jewish people; their homes, business, family members, clothing, the hair from their heads.

In March to Freedom by Edith Singer, Singer tells us about her experiences in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. “This book is how we lived, not how we died (9)”, she thought that people shouldn’t think of this book as how they were forced to live while in these camps, not by how many lost there lives. This book gives a lot of great detail on how they were treated while what some did to survive. Through all the suffering that Singer and millions of others went through she never gave up hope; in fact, she always tried to find the positive in something that was negative. “I always wanted to hear and believe in the positive (57).” In one chapter she explained how they were tattooed, and at first she thought that they were dehumanizing her. They had already took everything they possibly could from them and now they’re going to mark them like they brand a cow. Although she got her tattoo, she thought to herself if they were giving her a number they must not be going to kill me. Because they wouldn’t mark someone to send them to the gas chambers, they must have some living plans for me. “To send me to the gas chambers they don’t need a number (55).” This is a remarkable book. I suggest anyone to read it, if you want to know more about how the Jews were treated, or just looking for a good book to read. March to Freedom is so very detailed that you can put yourself into her shoes. I believe anyone who reads this book will not be able to put it down.

March of Freedom Review
In the book March of Freedom, Edith Singer, the author tells about her journey during World War II in the death camps. She tells of how the Nazi’s came into her home and wound up desecrating her friends and family in the death camps. Edith tries to stay strong and keep her composure but sometimes she cannot help but break down and cry. This book can teach people a lot about what the Jewish people went through during this time and what it was actually like during the holocaust. She was forced to work long and tireless hours with small rations of food and water. Many of the Jewish people died of starvation and if they did not they were put to work or put in a gas chamber to die. I thought that this was a very good and inspiring book and I believe that anyone who reads it will learn a lot about what it was to be a Jewish person during Hitler’s rein in Germany.

Review of March to Freedom
The book, “March to Freedom” by Edith Singer, you become inspired by a young girls courage and will to live, and also cry for the immense evils that the human soul can become. In the book, even though that Edith was ripped from her family, tortured, starved, hit, humiliated, and in more ways than one dehumanized; she still manages to keep her faith and have a strong steady will to live. When you read about the way that her and her family and loved ones were treated, it’s hard to believe that someone could escape such a wrath from under the hand of the Gestapo and the S.S. Yet Edith, her sister, and mother all managed to live after the war. After the great victory of the Allies over the Axis Powers the world had changed, and the things that occurred in the duration of the war must be known by any human being that has come after. This book is a must read due to the fact that it inspires, informs, teaches, and most importantly keeps history alive in the modern aging world by preserving it. As hard as it is to believe that humans are capable of such inhumane and disgusting actions I actually believe that we are capable of doing even worse; millions of Jews and innocent beings have died in worlds teachings to us that great evils must be stopped and never repeated nor forget what evil is. Long live history, and long live humanity.

Review of March to Freedom
In the book, March to Freedom” by Edith Singer, the reader becomes captivated by the story of a young Jewish woman who tries to survive the Holocaust; Throughout the entire book there is never a moment where the reader can predicate what is going to happen. March to Freedom keeps the reader on their toes from start to end. The author Edith Singer does a phenomenal job of depicting what really happened during the Holocaust and the constant struggle in the daily life of a Jew during the WWII. It feels as if the reader is actually living the story of Edith Singer; because, she uses such vivid details and explains everything thoroughly. If you are looking for a book on the holocaust I recommend March to Freedom, because Edith Singer keeps the book short and sweet while still managing to put in all vivid details about the Holocaust and how they were exactly treated and all the things that they had to endure during the duration of WWII. March to Freedom also does more than tell us what happened during WWII it also keeps history alive and lets us know that such acts of inhumanities aren’t acceptable, and the only way to prevent something like this from happening again is to stay humane.

March of Freedom
This is a heart touching story about a courageous young girl named Edith Singer who survived the Holocaust. This Inspirational story takes place in Auschwitz where Edith and her family were taken after the Germans raided their town. Edith encounters many hardships such as; not being able to eat for days and being separated from her family. Edith made it through the Holocaust; however her brother and father didn’t, but her experience did not stop her from writing this book. She was inspired to write this book after one of her students asked her what her tattoo was about. This would be a good book if you are looking for the lighter version of the holocaust. It has very many details about the holocaust, but she seems to go through the least of the pain compared to the other prisoners. If you are looking for the cold hard facts about the holocaust, I suggest you choose another book. This is more of a story about her and what she went through. So many good things would happen to her that it seemed as if this story was made up and the holocaust wasn’t real. I would recommend this book for the younger audience; such as middle school and early high school students. Overall this is a very good book, but it could use more information about the Holocaust.

March to Freedom is a very interesting book, if anyone has read any other type of book about the holocaust or learned about it this is a personal story. The Author is a very positive person in the holocaust, and pushes her way through tough obstacles. Many people don’t know what it is like to overcome tough obstacles like Edith or any other person in the holocaust; being pushed to death for no reason forced upon to do back breaking jobs, and living in terrible living conditions. In my opinion the book was good but not the best about the holocaust. It is like every other holocaust book how all the Jews were massacred by the Nazis. The story is a sad one but is also very informational on some stuff that we probably didn’t know that happened in the holocaust, such as mothers were killed if they had children with them, babies were used for target practice, or little boys were used to run errands around camp and the killed later when not needed anymore. The Author likes to stick to being positive no matter the situation, whether it be receiving small portions of food or losing both her brother and father.

Review of March the Freedom
My personal review of this book is that I love it. I love it because I learned a lot of what happen back then. Also I love it because I learned that there are a lot brave people. I also think the book is sad to know that this happens to all those people. The book also teaches us that we should appreciate what we now and not to complaint for small things that are not as important. I also like about this book that is really easy to read and understand.
The only bad thing about the book is that it made me angry that people was cruel, and did not have any heart. If I was there in her place, I do not know if I would been able to survive like she did. The Author was very brave on sharing this story with us. I was almost on tear when I read this book to see how much hell the author went through, and at the same time how she survived and had a wonderful family. I also admired Edith, because she was not only very strong for herself but she was a strong person to her mother and sister. That teaches us that we have to have strength for us and for our families when we are going to tough times.

I found this book interesting, for everyone to know and learn some history. The book provides a true story of courage because she had faith which she probably learned from her family. I learned in March of Freedom that cities as Chust were part of Astro-Hungary; which they spoke Hungarian and German before the war. After World War II it became Czechoslovakia, at school they learned Czech. Edith Singer’s perseverance as she learned through the difficulties such as getting separated from her family; although she always hoped that she would fine her way home and reunite with her family. In a quote where she left to a village to find food, she said, “Just as the situation seemed hopeless, one of the villagers told us we could stay in her barn in a small laundry room next to the pig sty”. It didn’t matter to her the place she was hiding in, nor the time she had to wait at this barn with her friend Irene for the war to be over. Because she took upon her ability to find strength-will, this opportunity gave her life and freedom.

Edith Singer tells her story of her experience in the Holocaust through her book, March to Freedom. Throughout her entire holocaust experience she is positive which helps her to
survive. Everyday there were people dying around her but she tried to let it not get to her. Although she of the holocaust but all survives the Holocaust, she doesn’t have her old life back. Edith, her mother and sister were victims of the Holocaust but they all managed to survive. Her
father and brother; however, were not too fortunate. They did not survive the war. Edith writes this moving book to tell her story and how things were for her. She was one of the fortunate
ones. Good luck throughout the holocaust seemed to come her way; in fact, she has a few miracles that come her way. Although she may have had some luck, she was still drastically
impacted by the holocaust. Edith has grown and matured from this, she was able to be a teacher like she always wanted. She now preaches her stories so that people can understand what her people had to go through, and so the holocaust may never be forgotten.

Review of March to freedom
In my opinion, “March to freedom” is a great book. Most of prisoners had positive thinking, especially Edith Singer;furthermore, they learnt how to endure in difficult situation. They were provided everything for life after the war ended. Moreover, some of them saw their families again. However, the worst thing was Jewish people were treated badly at that time, and they had a very difficult time during the war. After the war, some people lost their family; therefore, they got married so quickly without dating or even knowing each other’s name. In conclusion, this book helped people to understand what happened in the war; it makes people have more belief in life. Everything bad is going to be over.

Review of March to Freedom
In the book March to Freedom the Author Edith Singer maintains her faith, and courage during the holocaust. This book can teach someone to be persistent, and always go after the things they want in life. Although there are many negative inhumane actions that happen to her, Edith always looks for positive things to come in the future. Once she is taken from her family to work in the factory she feels hopeful; she knows that she won’t be killed if the Nazi’s want her to work. Through other tough moments of fear; nevertheless, she would keep herself together focusing on what is yet to come. I would recommend that everyone should read this book because it holds a part of history that everyone can learn from.

Review of March to Freedom
In the book March to Freedom the reader can enjoy many positive events that happens to the author. This book is able to teach a reader about history; it tells of the war on the inside what happens to the Jews being prosecuted in the camps. I also liked how a person can learn about peacekeeping and the difference between wrong and right. Although this book is a good book, it is also a sad one. For example, when the author hears of all the people she knew that had been killed, even her father and brother had been killed. March to Freedom is a easy read so that most anyone can read it, and share the experiences that the author had during this hard time in her life. I find it very amazing that the author still had hope, courage, and faith throughout the entire time of her very painful ordeal. Furthermore we learn how life was for the Jews, how they were treated worse than animals. We learn that the life in the camps were nothing like how we live; therefore, when we here of all the people that die it doesn’t come so surprising that they had such a horrible experience.

In the book March to Freedom, by Edith Singer, she describes her teenage life. This book will show you harsh things that happened in the Holocaust, but it will also encourage you about life and how to never give up. Singer will share to you about what she went through and what she had to do to survive during those dreadful times. She starts by talking about her wonderful life with her family (before the Holocaust). Then, she talks about what she went through during the Holocaust. When she describes these horrible images about what she witnessed and what she had to do to be able to survive, she makes the reader appreciate what they have in life today. Though those images are not images that any person wants to think about or wants to imagine it happened and we have to know about the history so that it will not happen again. She proved to me and will prove to you as well; that life is too short to be living with fear. This book also will show you how Singer stayed strong, had faith in God, and never gave up. In the book she says; “Irene wanted to quit and go back, but I did not give up.”(Singer 89). This proves that Singer did not give up in this situation that she was placed in and she will not give up in the future. She is a strong person and this book will inspire you for the rest of your life. In other words I really liked this book.; in fact, I recommend this book to anyone.

Edith Singer is one of the bravest women I will ever read about. She survived the worst and yet she still was able to think positive and did the things necessary to survive. There were only a few times that she exploded with anger and frustration “when i first saw what they were going to do to us, i felt furious. They took away my family, they took away my belongings and they took away my hair. They keep me cold, hungry, and miserable, and now they are going to put a number on my arm, just as though they were branding a cow. i felt so humiliated.” Even though she felt the way she did, she never gave up hope and she fought for servile . Through all of her hardships Edith was never selfish and always put her needs to the side and thought of others feelings and well being. She had to stay strong at such a young age and had to endure so much pain and loss. She is an amazing person and a wonderful women i would love to meet she thought me that when it feels like the world is coming down, life could always get worse and to keep a positive frame of mind.

March to Freedom Review
The author of the book didn’t come off as trustworthy to me. Over all it was a good book, but I don’t believe it was all a true story. Now if it was just a novel, something made up it would be nice. But the fact that its suppose to be a true story made me judge if the author was telling the truth or not. The story was about the Holocaust, then why was it that so many good things were happening to the main character. If you enjoy happy ending reading this book would satisfy you. On the other hand if you enjoy the darker reality of things; this book may not be for you. The author also over use the word “somehow”; without explaining how the things actually happened. the good thing about the book was that it wasn’t a complete happy unbelievable ending. Given that it wasn’t a complete happy ending it gave it a realistic feel. On another note “March to Freedom “ inspired me to look back on my own life and thank God for what I have. I know there’s a good chance that I would’ve of made it as for as the main character Edith did. If she can deal with life in the Holocaust, a real humbling experience.

Review of March to Freedom
March to Freedom by Edith Singer was a great book. During the Holocaust she was through a lot. She was torn away from her family and never saw her father or brother again but during this horrible war she always kept positive and never had to think twice about her decisions. I thought that she was courageous through her struggle. Edith also put other girls in front of her. For example, during the march there were wagons that would pass by with food and clean blankets. Edith saw that everyone who didn’t have a blanket were freezing. She would see this wagon pass by, with Germans driving the wagon, and from the back she would steal a blanket. She noticed that no one saw what she was doing, so she did it until everyone around her had a blanket. She got one for herself after everyone had one. If I was in that situation I don’t think I would have the courage that she did. I would recommend this book because it’s very touching. She was starved, abused, torn away from her family but always stayed positive. In the midst of all this chaos she encountered many different people; Even up to a teacher that she use to have in school.

I thought this book was a good learning experience, but there was one thing I didn’t like about it. It isn’t often we get to hear an individual’s side of the Holocaust. We know that it was bad; however, we don’t usually get a play by play like Edith provides. Edith was strong for her age; constantly in the book she risks her life for others well being. Like when she is working the factory she messes up the bombs to they explode in the air or miss their target. It makes me sad that any HUMAN BEING would be treated this way as if they were just animals. The one thing I didn’t like about the book was simply a statement she made. She says on page 93 of the text, “He was my liberator, my Messiah, a free Jew in uniform, I thought.” What bothers me about this quote is how she refers to the man as her messiah, and capitalizes it. While I do understand that Jews do not believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah, I do, so it is offensive to me. I also know that the book isn’t about me, and I think this book should still be read be read, it was definitely worth it.

Review of March To Freedom
I recommend March To Freedom to anybody that thinks that their life might be bad, or that they have been through everything when they really haven’t. This book is filled with facts, history, and bravery that Edith singer distributes throughout the book. After I had read the book I felt nothing but sorry for the way that people like Edith were treated for their ethnicity. This book is not a story of her life from day one, but It is a journal of her life when World War Two had begun and everything for her had been spiraling downhill for her. It is a journal of courage, bravery, and lastly it’s a little piece of history from 1945. Edith singer shows bravery throughout the book in many situations, she does not give up hope she always stays strong looking for the positive in each situation.

Review of March to Freedom
As Edith Singer writes March to Freedom, she displays courage, bravery, and strength in her words. This book would be encouraging for anyone going through difficult times. She was a Jew who was captured by German soldiers, and sent to live in a concentration camp. As soldiers would threaten her, she never got the worst of any punishment. She was wise in her decision making; nevertheless, she avoided cruel punishments because of this. Likewise, we can learn from her self control by thinking before we speakl. Her bravery was displayed as she lived in the concentration camp, not knowing what each moment may hold. She strived to stay positive through all adversity. Her strength endured her when there would be no restroom to use and little food. Under intense pressure from the German soldiers she face many trials, but never let them get the best of her. Fortunate events happened to her;consequently, other people there knew her family so they helped her survive. Because her family treated others so well, this helped Edith in the end because people who knew her families character wanted to help her as well. Consequently whenever Dr. Death came into the concentration camp; Edith Singer was never harmed. Even though she faced great opposition such as, hunger, beatings, emotional agony, she still stayed strong. With much working against her; nevertheless, Edith stayed strong and endured till the end. Without a doubt, displayed in March to Freedom, is the story of a woman with courage, bravery, and strength which surpassed all adversity.

Review of March to Freedom
In March to Freedom a survivor of the Holocaust named Edith Singer tells the story of her courage and drive to survive. Since Edith and her family are of a Jewish religion, they are unwillingly stripped of their belongings and taken to a concentration camp where her and her family are separated. All throughout the book you read about Edith’s imprisonment and her courage to keep going and survive. Edith was near death; optimism helped her survive. Although the book is based during world war II, it is important to read about a significant part of history such as the time period the book is based in. I recommend reading this book for its ability to see a moment in history and to learn of its impact on thousands of people.

March to Freedom is a story about a 17 year-old girl with strength, courage, and faith. Edith Singer goes through a journey that most of us will never endure. When everything got tough, she never once gave up. When things seemed to never look up, she stayed positive. Edith was a strong believer; therefore, she made it out alive. March to Freedom will definitely have you on your toes. You feel the emotions Edith feels; which makes it easy to picture what she went through. Her story makes you think about our lives and how lucky we all are. Without books like March to Freedom, we would never have known about the Holocaust and how hard life was for the Jews. That is why I think this is a great book for anyone to read. It teaches you about history that changed the world, and you may even learn a lesson when you finish reading.

If you want to read something historical and be grateful for the life you have; I can tell you “March to Freedom” by Edith Singer is the book that you should read. This book mean seem like a sad story, but there is a lot to learn from such a short and little book. There is some things that a person can’t believe but all reality is written in these few pages. After reading “March to Freedom” I can tell anyone I have it good. Many say we learn history to learn from others mistakes. In “March to Freedom” we learn the mistakes of the holocaust. We learn how cruel humanity can become, so that we may not become so cruel our selves. In this book you will have many questions like: Did this really happen? How could someone do this to another? How is it possible that she stayed so positive in a time like that? Could I have been strong as her? This book will have you looking at life at general . It will have you looking at life in another and different way. “March to freedom” is a small book with a lot to tell, so in a personal opinion it should be read by all.

Review of March to Freedom
“March to Freedom” by Edith Singer was an astonishing book because It pulls you in every chapter and seems to never get boring. Reading how she went through this torturous life for a whole year; it really makes you feel very appreciative for having freedom. Edith is a very strong willed person, and never gives up. She is placed in Auschwitz whereas she never knows when she will live or die. Although there is risk of death, Edith sneaks things to help her and others live through these days . This book is a must read; it will make you look back into history and be amazed by what really went on in the concentration camps. Reading about the holocaust in your history books; furthermore, is nothing compared to reading about an actual person that went through it. Since Edith is such a strong woman for being able to tell her story, you can take a glimpse into some one’s life that has gone through many challenges that made her who she is today.

March To Freedom Review
Edith Singers book March To Freedom is a excellent view of world war II, however it shows the horrors of the holocaust through her very own eyes. The book is descriptive and very well written; you feel as if you are there with Edith through her heartbreaking challenges. This novel shows the true horrors of life in a concentration camp in world war II and the brutal treatment of Jews before and during the war. you should read this book because it will make you grasp world war II like never before, because everything in this novel is true and actually happened to Edith and her family. I think it is a great novel and is so real because it feels as if you join Edith on her sad journey for survival and get a real terrifying look at the holocaust. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to learn about the holocaust or concentration camps, or anyone looking for a inspirational story of survival and hope. Edith Singer does an amazing job telling her brutal life experience; and I would defiantly read this novel so you too can join Edith on her march to freedom.

Review to March to Freedom
In the book there were many good and bad things that happened. Many of the Jews who after awhile had been in concentration camps learned how to stay very positive, and hardly tried to be negative about much. Many of the Jews help those who were weak, even when they felt sick or like something was wrong, they still stayed positive. March to Freedom is a very informational book about the Holocaust. In today’s society the newer generations are learning about newer things, and soon enough no one from the newer generations may even know what the Holocaust was. Although I really enjoyed the fact, that may would take risk just to get their hands on something such as bread, another article of clothing to change their old worn out dress that many wore for the entire duration of the war. When many of the families were slit up, many still had someone to be with. Some would later be separated; consequently, they would still find a way to communicate with each other. I really encourage many to read March to Freedom, but be warned while reading the book you must know that not everything they went through was pretty.

March To Freedom
A book about the holocaust is something that isn’t about happy things and happy endings, it would be about struggle. Edith Singer tried to communicate every specific detail about her experience in the holocaust. Although her imprisonment at Auschwitz was horrific, there were still things that happened that demonstrated that she had a guardian angel looking over her. For example, She was imprisoned in the death camp, but she and others found ways of surviving. She and other people would acquire food and clothing by stealing from the Nazis and not from each other. Another way Edith had luck was when she and her friend Irene, live throughout the war in a shack, but eventually left to find their families, Edith found her mother and sister alive in Chust. Most likely the greatest event that happened in this book was when Edith found love, Michael Singer. With him, she moved to America and started her new life. At first, a book about the holocaust has extremely negative connotations; however, it was quite the adventure while reading it. Having read this book, at any angle you can’t escape the fact that the events occurring are the darkness of humankind, but there is light in this darkness.

March to Freedom
Introducing March To Freedom by Edith Singer, she indicates what goes on throughout her lifetime. Although there are more negatives the positives, she always keeps her head up no matter what position she is put in. Edith is put through many struggles, and agitation in her lifetime. Many viewers have a different attitude towards the book, but this viewer believes this book is a very strong written piece. It is hard to have a lifestyle like Edith Singer, she is a genuine hero. Once this book is picked up it should not be put down; it keeps the viewers interested starting from page one. Because Edith is such a strong individual, she believes giving is not an option. Edith Singer states “… She encountered in concentration camp, labor camp, the death march, and in her escape to freedom” she believes she is a hero to herself, and to others. This reader feels that the pros should be specified; than cons due to the fact that Edith Singer is hopeful yet faithful at the same time.

March to Freedom is a memoir that is as nourishing as it is haunting. Edith Singer’s reflection on her early life in a Nazi Concentration Camp hits the heart and heals it with it’s beauty. As much as an incredible icon as Mrs. Singer is her story is written and paced masterfully. One enjoying factor of the book is its message, that although the book is written in a dark world, it is a story of how she lived not died. Painful as it was it write this novel, I am certain Mrs. Singer understands the powerful effect her courageous life story will educate the masses. In uncertain as times are, Humanity has learned a lesson from the scar that will forever be a mark on. I strongly recomend this text for all aspiring citizens.

In the book march to freedom: a memoir if the holocaust, we read of the constant fight to stay warm, and survive. An example of this fight is having your clothes stolen. We find this happens because Lily says to Edith, “someone stole my clothes while I was washing myself at the water pipe. What will I do now?”(45) as bad as things were in Auschwitz, we wouldn’t think it could get worse, but having your clothing stolen is a pretty terrible thing. This book was a great read, the vocabulary was excellent. It wasn’t too long, although making the book longer to add a little more detail would have been great!

In the book March To Freedom: A memoir of the holocaust Edith Singer says,"when will i arrive wherever i am going so that i can wash up and can go to sleep in a bed.” Edith Singer being so young and nyeve, does not see what pain, loss, and torture that she will experience when they arrive to their destination. But even though she was dragged out the comfort of her home she still saw a positive outcome to wherever she might go. Reasons such as these are why I would recommend this book to anyone that hasn’t read it before. In March to Freedom: A memoir of the holocaust, Edith Singer really affected me with great detail of her traumatizing experiences in the Holocaust during age 16 t o 17. She has to watch her mother and sister suffer while dreading the day they will be separated. “Every day after Appell, mother, Lilly, and I felt grateful that we returned to our barrack together” (31). I don’t want to even picture being forced out of my home and into a concentration camp. Having to be separated from your loved ones and thrown into horrible living conditions is hard to imagine. Edith is strong-hearted and optimistic to have such hopeful thoughts in such inhumane situations; she had the will to survive. Reading this book reminded me of how much I take for granted. I recommend this book to anyone because of the educational history this brave and amazing woman shares with us. In Edith Singer’s memoir “March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust” she shows her courage when she states, “I started sabotaging” (66). In march to freedom: A memoir of the holocaust, Edith singer describes how after all the horrible things the Nazis are going to put them through; the separation of her family would be unbearable. I could not imagine what this has to feel like, and how it will impact the rest of her life. In the beginning at least both sisters and their mom stayed together, but the day came when Edith got separated from her mother not knowing what would happen to her. This could be a tragic moment in anyone’s life, for in less than five minutes Edith would go to a labor camp leaving her mom behind and not knowing if she would ever come back to see her, “ for the rest of the year, I cried for my mother. I cried so much at that time that I used up all of my tears for a lifetime” (61). I don’t know what a person could do at that point, but I am thanking god that decision has not come up in my life. I would advise everyone to read this book, not only is it educational but so inspiring to read, the detail she gives on her every day experience in Auschwitz is enough to make anyone tear up.

It is explained in Edith Singer’s, “March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust” that she has experienced a terrible and horrific time while she was taken prisoner from the German Nazi’s. I do recommend this book for those who like to read and don’t. Because it is about the holocaust, there are some sad moments in the book. The author explains in the book when she lost her friends, “I wished I had been left with my hope, my fantasy that somewhere, somehow, Miklos and his beloved Yossele had survived and were still together” (82). With that statement she was pleased that she met some great people and hope they make it out alive. Despite the sad moments in the book it is a good story and that we all can learn a few lessons from the book. The main lesson that I learned in this book is to appreciate the little things in life and not to take everything for granted.

In March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust, Edith Singer shows her powerful mentality for living, “After they finished tattooing me, I did not feel humiliated at all I felt hopeful. I will live!” (55). The Nazis could do whatever they wanted to do and she would never give in.

In her memoir, Edith Singer tells her personal story about the catastrophe of the Holocaust. From her home in Czechoslovakia to the barracks of Auschwitz, the author talks about the events of that time in great detail, while revealing her own struggles with physical deprivation, humiliation, separation, loss, and religious doubt. Although she struggles, with millions of others, from the unforgiving cruelty of the Nazis dehumanization, Edith finds hope through resistance to evil. From the power of memory she has constructed a vital message that will enlighten generations of readers. This is an amazing book because it tells the story of a young girl who struggled to survive. It gives the details of gruesome acts performed by the German Nazis. It is a very powerful and moving book because it is told through ones personal experiences. I would recommend this book to others because it is an easy read but very powerful and influential. It is one of my the best books I have read in a long time.

“March to Freedom:A Memoir of the Halocaust”,is a story told by Edith Singer, a young girl who finds herself in a horrible life or death situation at Aushwitz, one of the largest and deadliest concentration camps during World War II. Throughout the story, Singer tells her terrifying memories of being held as an innocent prisoner and how she never gives up hope to live through her real life nightmare. I strongly recommend this book to anyone! This book is full of detail and you will never want to put the book down.

“March To Freedom: A Memior Of The Holocaust”, is based on a true story about Edith Singers horrible experience in Auschwits. In the book she explains how the “joy was indescribable"(97), when she was reunited with her mother and sister after a year without knowing if they had survived this tragic event. I would definitley recommend this book to anyone because, it teaches us to appreciate what we have and not take our loved ones for granted.

In the book March to Freedom: a Memoir of the Holocaust, Edith Singer described her experience throughout the holocaust. Although Edith was Jewish and was put in a concentration camp, she was positive and tried to find ways to survive and avoided all causes. This book is very detailed about a how Edith Singer’s life was transformed due to the holocaust. When she and her family arrived in Auschwitz they did not know what to expect. Then “Schnell, schnell, schnell! Men here, women there! They shouted from a loud speaker” (23). Her family got separated, but Edith, her sister, and her mom helped each other get through the concentration camp until they got separated. I would definitely recommend this book for everyone to read because of how easy the context is and because it would help readers understand what the Jews had to go through.

In March to Freedom: A memoir of the Holocaust, Edith Singer a Jewish woman talks about her experience in the holocaust. I would definitely recommend this book to people, even if you don’t enjoy reading, this is the most interesting book I have every read. Edith is very detailed in her story, and explains all the horrible things the Jews went through. There are lessons we can learn from this story, such as, to appreciate even the little things in life and not to take everything for granted. Edith stayed positive throughout the whole story no matter what problems came in front of her. She was given even more hope when a Jewish Hungarian woman who told her, “oh darling, you have a very long life line” (36). Edith was determined to believe her and kept moving forward with her life in a positive direction.

In Edith Singer’s “March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust,” she tells an incredible story of her experience as a Jewish prisoner in Auschwitz. She endures hardships and traumas most people can’t even imagine. She is only seventeen years old and she endured and survived through experiences that grown men cannot. It’s a short novel but well told story. Once you start reading about Edith’s story you won’t be able to put it down. You’ll gain a better perspective on the little things in life that most take for granted. This is one the most incredible true stories I’ve ever read.

In Edith Singer’s “March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust” is an incredible life inspiring reading that is based on true story. The reading is comprehendible, compassionate, and appreciative. It’s a story of a girl that goes through one of the hardest time at the age of sixteen during WWII. She lead a normal life, and was rapidly turned upside down. She was forced out of her home, parted from her family and learned to survive on her own. After a hard rigorous year of not losing hope; she’d never thought that she would be reunited with her family. Overall, this book made me appreciate family and the smaller things in life.

In the memoir “March to Freedom” by Edith Singer, the holocaust is told through her experience. She explains in the book, “it was the best meal we had during this long year."(90) Describing the dog food she ate in village outside the camp. Too often we take our lives for granted, and complain about what we don’t have. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to better their life.

In the book “March to Freedom,” by Edith Singer, Edith explains in full detail her life in the concentration camps during the holocaust. She describes some of her stories that happened to her, and how she never gave up hope. When you read about some of the things she went through, you think you would give up, but Edith never gave up she stayed strong the whole time. I couldn’t put the book down, it makes you thankful for what you have, and I think this book will give you hope.

In March to Freedom the story was very dramatic in explanation and a sad story. How people lived during the war before and while in the concentration camps. It was a very dramatic view on one young girls life set forth to live and survive in harsh conditions and never give up hope. Even though many people saw death and a never ending german army, Edith saw the good in things that people couldnt.

In the memior March to Freedom written by Edith Singer: she describes her life experinces in the Holocaust. Such as, “Everyone of us who survied and many that did not - resisted.” (60) Throughout the pain she and everyone around her had to go through they never gave into what was happening. This book gave me a little more understaning of what happen and how much we now of days take for granted. I believe everyone should read this book to realize and to be thankful of what we have. Edith Singer was a very brave women and I thank her for sharing her story with us.

March to Freedom was about Edith Singer’s survival of the holocaust. Her will to not let the Nazis win keep her living and fighting on. It makes the reader think about what really went on in the holocaust. This book is the kind of book, that once you start it you can’t put in down.

In March to freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust, by Edith Singer. I had a chance to learn more about the Holocaust. Edith Singer shows strength, determination, courage, and faith. She goes through many difficult times, but they could not break her. She states “They could not take away my will to live” (55). When Edith and her family arrive to the concentration camp, she is separated form her father & brother. She is also separated from her mother & sister later on. The moment where Edith shows the most distress is when she is sent away to a work camp as she explains “I left Auschwitz with the knowledge that my, mother was left alone there as an “older” person at 43-Lilly and I were leaving-and I was sure that they would kill her” (61). I couldn’t begin to imagine how that would feel. While in the concentration camps Edith learns ways to survive. All the horrible events she witnesses, the suffering and traumatizing procedures she goes through; she still keeps faith in God. The Nazis tried to humiliate the Jews in many ways but Edith kept strong because she didn’t want to die there. If you don’t already know; this book teaches you about values. It will help you appreciate your family, personal position, and the food you eat even more. It will help you understand that you shouldn’t treat people differently. Edith really brings the reader into her life during the Holocaust, and helps you understand the pain the Jews went through. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about the holocaust. If you don’t cry or tear up while you read it I don’t know what to say.

March to Freedom: A memoir of the Holocaust is the most incredible real story that I have ever read in my life. I normally do not read books, but this one got my attention from start to end. Edith Singer, the writer, does an excellent job explaining and describing every detail of the brutal events that she witnessed, and experiences that she went through, after she was captured and imprisoned in a concentration camp by the Germans. She was only 16 years old when her long trajic journey of hunger, cold, suffering, and painful experiences began; however, she was always able to keep a positive attitude, faith, and hope for survival. Her strengh and positivity kept her alive. I would really recommend this book because it inspires us to be more appreciative of what we have, and also to learn how to be more compassionate to others.

In the book March To Freedom: A Memior of the Holocaust By Edith Singer we experenice a first hand look at what life was like for her during this difficult time. I couldn’t imagine what she went through. She describes what she went through including arriving at Auschwitz, appell, sleeping conditions, getting a tattoo to mark her as a number instead of having a name, how everyone who wasn’t a blonde hair blue eyed german was thrown into these camps and dehumanlized because of there religion or race. I am reminded of the quote “ I am getting a number, and from now on I will be A-13215.” This to me would’ve been terrible. Now you have no name no religion no freedom nothing. I think that today we don’t know how good we have it. This is probably not the worst stories from the holocaust either. Other people probably went through worst serino’s but never lived to tell about it. I would recommened this book to anyone who likes to hear about other people’s struggle through life or to anybody who complains about there life.

In “March To Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust” by Edith Singer she expresses her first hand experience of the Holocaust. Edith Singer tells us how she didn’t want to believe that this was real, “At first, I thought it was just a bad nightmare; I would soon wake up and find myself at home in my own bed, covered with a big feather comforter, my family around me, and plenty of food in the kitchen. But after several days in Auschwitz, I realized that it is not a dream but a terrible and cruel reality” (42). I would recommend this book it is a very detailed, interesting story about the Holocaust, it also has a lot of life lessons.

March To freedom: A memoir of Edith Singer’s experience of the Holocaust. This is a true story about a young girl who survived the holocaust. It’s very well written and easy to understand. It tells about the terrible things a young girl (Edith Singer) went through during the holocaust, and how she still had the strength and hope to survive. In March To Freedom, Edith talks about one of her most hopeful thoughts when she says, “The war will be over soon, I thought. I will go home to my family. I will hug them and kiss them. I will eat bread and more bread and then some more” (page 85). This is one of her most hopeful and uplifting thoughts when the war (WWI) was ending. This is definitely a touching story and will help the new generation to learn about the Holocaust.

In March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust, Edith Singer shows her optimistic side throughout the book. There is a paragraph in this book that displays this positivism, when she says “After they finished tattooing me, I did not feel humiliated at all. I felt hopeful. I will live” (55). Because this book is well written and easy to understand, you never want to put it down. This is a real life account with great descriptions; making it as if you are really there. This book puts your life into perspective after reading; furthermore, it makes you very thankful for the things that you have. I would recommend that everyone read this book.

In March to Freedom: A memoir of the Holocaust such a painful story that a new generation could learn about Holocaust, and fight about human rights. The writer Edith Singer though us, “I had a little prayer: if I am to die here, I would rather die today than tomorrow so that I will be hungry one day less, my other prayer was: if I have to die, just once more I would like to have enough food to remember what it is like not to be hungry” (page 43). She described us in this book about constant hunger such a painful that no words in any language could explain their hunger. This is great book to read which I have learned a lot.

In the novel March To Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust, tells us about Edith Singers journey through that terrible event. Throughout the book Edith questions whether or not there is a God. One of the quotes that she says is “God took the Jews out of Egypt. Couldn’t he take us out of here? Why are we in here in the first place? Where is God?”(78-79). Although she questions if there is a god; she soon realizes that there is a god because she is still alive today to share with us to never give up and always trust in God.

March to freedom was such an incredible story that I recommend everyone to read this book. It was written by the Author, Edith Singer of how she lived through the holocaust. She is a perfect example to someone who never gives up because she never lost hope and continued to keep her head up high. The Holocaust was a horrible time in history and how edith, and all the prisoners lived through a living torture. Its so amazing that this 16 year old young girl went through, she never let her emotions take over her. I strongly recommend everyone to read this incredible book.

March to freedom is a great book it’s about the holocaust, the darkest darkest darkest historical event but Edith Singer’s March to Freedom is not about the dark side of holocaust rather she presented it in a more positive way, how she overcomes her greatest battle (holocaust). It is definitely a must read book it is a live testament that “will is powerful beyond obstacles”. The book dismantles all my reasons to complain it gives me more reasons to feel that I am more blessed than other people out there. The book is the greatest example that discrimination or racism can affect one person, even one country and even more the world. I recommend this book to everyone it will not just make you understand how a young 17 year old girl fights for her life during holocaust but rather it will give you more reason to never give up to your own battle in life.

March to Freedom: A memoir of the Holocaust, by Edith Singer was such a life touching story; it was incredible how this woman survived and lived to tell the story. Edith described how life was living in a concentration camp, and what her daily routine was like throughout the day. Since she was a Jew, she had to go through the horrible massacre with the rest of the Jews. Although she was only 17, she remained strong and always had strength to keep moving forward she never let her emotions take over. Edith had mentioned, “By writing down my experiences, I let go of some of the painful memories” (10). Even though she lives with these experiences it’s good to know that she can feel a little bit better because she has written about her memories in this book. Overall this book was sensational and took you into depth about the footsteps she took throughout this rough part

March to Freedom by Edith Singer is a fantastic book about her life during the Holocaust, along with her family, and the hardships they went through. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is interested in World War II, the Holocaust, or a person’s undying faith to stay alive. Edith gives explicit detail in her book about the torture that she and the others went through that were imprisoned by the German’s. Her stories are very real and horrifying but she continues to fight back in any way she can in hope’s to end the war and see her family together again. After reading this book, I have gained a new perspective on life to not take even the simplest things for granted and to stay positive.

March Of freedom was a very interesting book because of everything that happens. One of the most important facts its how Edith Singer reacts to the situation. Through everything that she went through she always kept a positive outlook on life even with the negativity that was going around. I would recommend this book to everyone because you learn a lot from the history and how to be positive about things and don’t be strong about tough situations. This history shows how hard others lives is and how do they control their temper through it. Edith had a strong courage on doing things that others didn’t do. In this case, learn from every experience in life and it will make you a better and stronger person.

March to Freedom is a memoir of the Holocaust written by Edith singer. Being Jewish myself my grandparents taught me about the Holocaust, but Singer’s vivid writting gives the reader a first had experience of her life from before she was forced to leave her home to when the Germans evacuated Auschwitz. The story, March to Freedom written by Edith Singer is a very touching story about a girl named Edith that fights for her life everyday. She tries to maintain strength to carry on. She is taken away from her family and is being separated by barbed wire fences at a horrible concentration camp named Auschwitz. She is a perfect example to someone who never gives up. The Holocaust was a horrible time in history and there is no person that should have to be put through such torture on a day by day basis. “ If god wants me to live, no German or anyone else can harm me.” is a statement by Edith herself. It’s a perfect example of her will to move on and maintain courage to live to see another day. It’s a perfect story about motivation and optimism. The Holocaust was known as one of the largest mass killings and someone at such a young age should never have to be apart nor see something like it. When I read this book there was so many emotions that I felt and so many descriptive details I can actually see in my mind. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about a girl that holds her head high.

March to Freedom was an inspiring story of one girls will to survive. Edith Singer goes into great detail about how she survived the death camps during the holocaust. Throughout the entire book, Singer explains what she went through, and even though she was brutally tortured, Singer never gives up. The Germans tormented the Jews and even tattooed them like cows, so that they were no longer seen as human, but numbers. On page 55, Singer writes “After they finished tattooing me, I did not feel humiliated at all. I felt hopeful”. Just reading how much confidence in being a survivor Singer had is motivating. No matter who you are or where you come from, life always has its good times and bad. This book encourages one to never let go of your faith. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about just one of the many holocaust survival stories. The book is an easy read, but should not be underestimated. This is a strong story sure to please anyone from cover to cover.

March to freedom was a really great book to read, I recommend for every one to read it. It really gives you the scenes of what happened in the Holocaust. Edith singer just makes every thing so clear for you to understand that you can picture her getting to Auschwitz not knowing what was going to happen next, being separated from her family and just living there . This book is a real eye opener because it shows us how hard it was for them during the war, to be judged because of there ethnicity. The wording of this book just is straight forward and in her words you can really feel all the emotions that she is having, and she also teaches us a very valuable lesson never give up no matter what. This book is so inspirational. Edith tells us about the holocaust first hand. What she went through is beyond my comprehension. How could people have been so horrible to others who are just like them. This day in age we take so much for granted. Lying, cheating and stealing just to survive. It must have been unbelieveable during that time. I couldn’t put this book down from the moment I started to read it. I plan on reading more books about the holocaust. I would recomend this book to anyone.

I would greatly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an interesting and inspiring book of survival. March to Freedom is a wonderful but sad story about the hardships of life during the Holocost. This book showed to me that during hard and trying time you can get through them if you show characteristics of courage, strength, and everlasting faith. I plan on reading and getting more books on what happend in the lives of the jewish people during the holocost because it is so interesting to see the views of differet people and how they got through their hard times.

The March to freedom was truly an amazing book.Edith’s courage and hope thoughtout the book had such an impact on me, and i thank her for sharing her story. I remember some of the stories that my granfather used to tell me before he passed away. At first i didnt want to believe it. I didnt want to believe that someone could be so evil to do what they did to the jews. I really enjoyed reading the march to freedom. I was hooked on the first line and could not stop until i finished the book.

I think the book march to freedom was a very good book. I normally don’t read books, but this one kept me wanting to read and read. The main character Edith Singer went through some very difficult chanllenges, more than anyone one of us would ever have to go through. She alway try to stay positive, even when she felt like she couldn’t keep pushing. The book got into great details and explain plenty of problems that she came across. I have read some books on this subject, I have been to the Museum of Tolerance and seen their set ups on the holcaust matter, I would say that she has accuplished a great deal of things just by going through this. I definetly shows that no matter how bad life is for some people, someone has always had and may still have a worse life than you.

This book march to freedom was a great book. I normally dont like to read these type of books, but this book showed me is that no matter what hard trials god puts you or your loved ones through you must always stay positive. Another thing is to never loose faith because if you have nobody you will still have your faith.
Overall i though this book was well written and i would definitely recommend this book to others.

Everything we have, we take for granted. Some say that the present generations are not appreciative of what they have. In the novel March to Freedom: A Memoir of the Holocaust, by Edith Singer, one teenager writes about her survival of the cruel and inhumane treatment that she faced during the Holocaust, and lives on to tell her personal story. As every day goes by Edith becomes more and more weak, she still is positive and admiring of ever day she has lived through. This book brings a cluster of different characters to the reader. The book contains many abstract characters like Dr.Mengele’s merciless brutality. The reader is also aware of Edith’s mom and her unbelievable selfless, hardworking, dedicated attitude. Of course, Edith posses this non-stop optimistic attitude and view of what happens, which is what leads her to survival and her march to freedom.
Edith’s consistent positive attitude is one of the main themes, which reoccurs throughout the whole story, “… gave me new strength to go on. I felt even more optimistic…” (pg.84). Edith is the most courageous character found in this book. She beholds this power of bravery that allows her to take many risks such as stealing a shirt for her sister Lilly or sabotaging the machinery for the weapons, risks that could have very much cost her, her life.
This book has changed my perspective of life; my personal life to be specific. When I saw the conditions and circumstances that Edith survived, it gives me, “new strength to go on” (pg.84). Edith’s thankfulness and gratefulness, made me grateful and approving of everything I have.

March To Freedom is an amazing book. This book kept me hooked on it from the beginning till the very end. Infact, i didn’t want it to end, i wanted to read more and more. It gave me very vivid images in my head of everything Edith was going through first hand. I know now what it was like during the Holocaust. This book definately deserves five stars. I would definately recommend this book to other readers. It made me realize how lucky we are and how many things we take for granted. This book taught me many lessons; stay positive, never give up, and keep your faith in God, he will never let you down.

This book was very inspiring, in many different way. This book was a very easy read , and very interesting so it was even more intriging. This book got me to think in multiple way about how are socoiety is today.I thought of the things we take for granted, the hardships that Edith had to go through were unimaginable to me. In todays world if something like this were to happen there would definatly be a force against this. These people were treated so bad for no reason. There were children set to there deaths just because they were born into a jewish culture. This book gave me a different perspective on many things.

This book is an inspiration to everyone who reads it. Its an amazing story of hope and strength, and the abilty to keep going. In this life experiance edith shows courage and leadership. When the tough was getting tougher and people needed blankets and clothes Edith got them what they needed even if it meant being caught and killed. Its amazing how she survived all the cruel punishment that she explains in the book. She had to be emotionaly tough. This book makes me think about all the stuff we take for granted. Like how many times we eat a day, the clothes we have, the beds we sleep on and how every family member or friend is a phone call away. This book makes me have a new vision of life.

March to Freedom is an amazing book. Edith Singer, which is the main character, teaches you that even through all the bad you have to keep your head up and stay strong. At age 16, Edith and her family were taken from there home not knowing where they were going, if they were going to be separated, even if they were going to live. After being taken of her identity and freedom Edith manages to stay alive through all the hardship. To stay alive Edith and other prisoners have to learn all the tricks to getting extra food or get a pair of shoes just so there toes won’t freeze. Even though Edith is struggling to stay alive she is inspiring because she risks her life to try to help others in need by taking some blankets or even trying to find some extra food to give to her mother or sister. Once you read this book all your problems will not amount to the pain and suffering that Edith and millions of others went through you will truly see your life in a whole new perspective. I really recommend this book even through some very gruesome scenes you will not regret reading it.

March to Freedom showed me what it was like durring the holocaust. All the things that edith went through. I loved the book, it was easy to read and kept me interested. This book teaches us to not take things for granted; Edith had everything taken away from her and she still had a good attitude about it. I think everyone should read this book. You can learn so much about history.

March to Freedom takes you on inspiring journey through the Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz. Edith Singer is one of the few Jewish survivors that have prevailed to retell the story of the Holocaust massacre. The war had started, and fear swept the Jewish population. Rumors arose of Nazis taking Jews away to work in camps, and killing them. For Edith, these rumors became a reality. As a sixteen year old girl, she was stripped of everything she called her own. Living day to day under the cruel Nazi supervision, Edith’s courage, daringness, and optimism gave her the will and sanity to go on and ultimately survive. Edith was separated from her friends and family; consequently she never saw most of them ever again. Edith writes about her harsh struggle to survive under the most extreme conditions and situations. Lacking food, sleep, clothing, and the security of life, the Jews of the time were continuously tortured and murdered. Toward the end of the war, the Nazis marched Edith and the other Jews of the camps 25 miles at a time without the bare necessity of food, water, or rest; most did not survive, but the faith and courage of Edith Singer made even the impossible possible. Although Edith went through some of the worst conditions imaginable, she did not falter; instead, she set herself apart from the rest, giving their generation and ours hope and inspiration.

March to Freedom was very inspirational. I highly recommend that anyone read this book. I found the main character Edith Singer to be a very brave and heroic person. She somehow maintained a positive attitude throughout the whole book even though she went through some of the most horrifying and dreadful experiences during the holocaust.
During the time Edith was a prisoner, Edith stated, “I will not listen to people who are pessimistic and who do not believe in a future. If god wants me to die, then it can happen anytime, anywhere, even after the war, even on my way home. But if god wants me to live, no German or anyone else can harm me.” Her devotion to god and her expectations in life are what kept her going. She risked her own life to not only help her mother and sister, but also her fellow prisoners and I found that to be beyond courageous. March to Freedom makes you realize that you should not take anything for granted, but instead appreciate everything that you have. And maybe if you just keep hope and faith in your vocabulary, you might be able to overcome anything no matter how difficult or impossible it seems.

Imagine having everything you’ve grown to know and love completely stripped away from your life. Imagine being enslaved, beaten, starved, humiliated and completely dehumanized. Would you be able to find the strength within yourself to go on living? Or, would you lose all hope and die?
This truly amazing book is a testament of hope. “March to Freedom” really emphasizes the capacity of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strength that many of us have within. The main character, Edith, sets the example of endurance, hope, and the will to survive.
Edith Singer was exiled from her home, stripped from all her belongings, separated from her family, continuously persecuted, and deprived from every fundamental human need to survive. Yet, throughout her horrific ordeal, she managed to keep herself and many others, optimistic and hopeful through her words and actions which ensured their survival.

The book “March to freedom” is an amazing story about a young girl who survived the Holocaust. The story is written by Edith Singer and the story is about her journey through Auschwitz and Taucha. She braves the harsh conditions and prevails in the end. This book is amazing I admire the strength Edith showed through the story she did everything she could to make the war end as soon as possible. This book will make you realize the troubles and tribulations that many of the families had to go through just to survive and some never did. This is a very depressing story but it makes u think twice before judging some because of their religion, race, and looks

From the begging of the book it was a horrible picture to think of and how someone could possibly think of doing something like this. Edith had one thing in mind when she got in to Auschwitz, it that was to survive and to help as many people as shoe could, especially her family. There were some positive things around Edith that she can build off of to stay alive. But the negative things in Auschwitz and in the labor camps could not be forgotten.
One of the worst things to see in Auschwitz was having to dig you own grave and then being killed. It would be the worst feeling in the world to know that this will be the last thing you will ever do and it’s digging your own grave. Even if you were watching this, you would probably feel sick and hope that you will not die like that. It would be even worse if it was one your family members or one of your good friends.
There were so many things I could write about but this one particular thing just disturbed me. Just reading it made me queasy and I couldn’t even imagine seeing this in person.

March to freedom is probably the best book I have read this semester. Edith Singer and her family were taken to Auschwitz when she was 16 years old. All her belongings, clothing, house, and memorables were taken away from her by the Nazis. While at Auschwitz Edith endured a lot of anguish, she had only two showers in one year. Also she had to get up early in the morning for appell where her and other women stood five in a row for many hours so they could be counted. They ate one bowl of watery soup at lunch and for dinner a piece of bread, a thin slice of salami, and a square of margarine. The Nazis did everything in their power to dehumanize the Jews. They shaved the women’s hair and made them wear a shirt, one pair of underwear, no socks, and a pair of shoes. The Jews slept fifteen to a bunk bed seven one way, and seven the other way with one laying across the others. Even though Edith endured a lot she still kept faith that things would get better. She did as much as she could to sabotage the Nazis. She stole food, clothing, and did not working to her full ability. I think this is a good read for people who want to learn about the Holocaust.

The book “March to Freedom” is a great book written by Edith Singer a holocaust survivor. Edith and her family were from Chust, Czechoslovakia, and because they were Jews they were stripped of their privileges and belonging. From there her family and 5,000 other Jews were sent into concentration camps. While in the camps the families where separated, the women were shaved bald, and they barely showered or ate food. The story goes on to tell her day to day journey during this tragic experience. Throughout the book no matter how hard it got Edith had a positive attitude and always keep faith which made it easier for her to survive. This book is very inspirational and teaches so many life lessons. I encourage everyone to pick up the book and read it.

Edith Singer’s memoir of the Holocaust is not only unbelievable, but unforgettable. Her survival story begins in Chust, Czechoslovakia where Edith lived a normal life; until, her family had their home and business taken away and were relocated to Auschwitz. Upon their arrival Edith and her family were spilt up; this was the last time Edith saw her father. “Suddenly, my tall father looked so small. His confident warm smile that always comforted me as a child was gone.” Once again Edith was spilt apart from the rest of the women in her group, but this time the ones to the left were sent to the gas chambers to die. Dr. Mengele, the “Angel of Death,” made these selections; however, they never stopped. One day Edith was separated from her only family, her mother and sister, and sent to Taucha to work making missiles for the Germans, or so they thought. Instead Edith began to sabotage the Germans by making missiles that exploded before they reached their target; in fact, this was the beginning of her escape to freedom. Through Edith’s courageous acts of sabotage and will to stay alive this book gives you and inside look of how some survived the dreadful Holocaust.

March to Freedom, by Edith Singer, has tugged at the hearts of many people worldwide. Her descriptive and powerful story, about how she survived the holocaust, has been a complete success in giving the world yet another side of a survivors’ experience. Through Edith’s words, we can come to understand the hostile and dreadful environment, that many people in and around the 1940’s era, had to go through. Her personal story is gripping and knowledgeable at the same time. She provides a very deep explanation of her daily routine; and she describes it in a manner that is heart-jerking. Through Edith’s memoir, readers can comprehend more and more about what a difficult time period people of the Holocaust went through. She is a brave woman, and one who wasn’t afraid enough to just do as she was told. Edith’s courage kept her alive, and able to write this compelling memoir.

I would just like to say that this book has truly changed my life. Edith Singer explains her testimony of being a holocaust survivor who overcame many triumphant obstacles by keeping a high spirit and a positive attitude. Edith’s faith along with her bravery kept her and many others alive. She was forced to leave her hometown and relocate to one of the largest Nazi German concentration camps in Poland. There she was separated from her family and dehumanized. With her head shaved and her body weak Edith fought for survival everyday by sneaking food and stealing clothing from the SS soldiers. Towards the end this book the prisoners were released from the concentration camps and sent to walk the long journey home. Edith risked her life to help the unknown girls around her by grabbing blankets out of the back of a Nazi storage wagon keeping the warm and dry. This is only one example of her courageous spirit. After the war, Edith Singer went thought life appreciating every blessing given to her and grew up to be an amazing role model for many. Now if that doesn’t inspire you to read this book, then I don’t know what will.

Do you believe the Holocaust ever took place? Some say yes and others say no. For those that say no, I recommend reading this book. This fact based story tells the tale of a 15 year old Jewish girl and her experience during the Holocaust.
Her life was generally peaceful until one day the Nazi’s raided her home town of Chust, Hungary. They grabbed up everyone who was Jewish and sent them to Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland. There the dehumanization began and did not stop until the Allies came to liberate them. The vivid details of this book really give you good incite on what actually went on in these camps.
The main character and author Edith is by far the most extravagant character. Risking her life almost on a daily basis trying to make the lives of others more convenient, in a very harsh situation. You will see really what kind of person Edith was and what kind of person it took to survive the Holocaust.

If you love books filled with true courage, inspiration, and adrenalin, then don’t just walk, but run to get the book March to Freedom by, Edith Singer. This book is told by Edith herself and it explores the journey she went through, to survive the challenging path through the Holocaust. Edith is best described as a true hero in the book as she fights for her life by sneaking out in the middle of the night to steal potatoes, by “looking around, making sure no one was watching, then grabbing a blanket from a moving wagon,” and by sneaking out into the town to fight for her survival. Edith is a brave young girl who shows her dedication and believes in herself. Her inspiration in the book is, God. She knows that he will help her and her family survive this nightmare.. By reading about Edith Singer; she takes you through an incredible journey through a full year of her life that feels like a century. The effect of this book has true life changing experiences, and will show you to live your life to its fullest by appreciating each and everyday.

Risk played a huge role for Edith Singer in the Holocaust by making her stronger and more able to react to the obstacles she had to face. At one point Singer describes, “Secretly, I got hold of a piece of chalk and added some marks of my own whenever he was not looking” (65). Edith took a giant risk by adding extra markings to show that she was producing more missiles; moreover, she risked her life in an attempt to receive more bread. In another example Edith purposely makes the missiles incorrectly in hopes that the Germans would lose the war. She writes, “Cautiously, I mismatched the holes of the metal plate with the holes of the pipe” (66). In another risky affair, Edith, trying to conserve energy, hops on the back of the SS wagon while she is supposed to be walking. During the twenty mile march she explains, “After a short while, I jumped on another wagon and rode a few more miles” (85). Among various other risks Edith took possibly the most important is when she escapes and lives in a German’s barn leading to her freedom.

This book exemplifies how strong individuals can be under the most excruciating and unbearable circumstances. Through the trials and obstacles put before her, young Edith fights for her undeniable desire to live. Throughout the book, she endures horrifying events that shape who she will eventually become. Holding on to her faith of a higher being, she believes that God will save her from the hell that she was facing. Having a positive outlook on her situation not only kept her sane, but also gave her the proper motivation to continue. With the loss of members of her family, and the thought of never seeing them again crippled her. Although she endured hell, she still kept her faith and kept her chin up. This moving story has not only affected her, but affected those she shares with. She has been sharing her events with thousands of people. Through a terrible and tragic event, Edith has been able to flip it towards a positive perspective that will hopefully change the lives of many.

In the March of Freedom it describes the feeling of losing your freedom and someone having complete control of every move you make. The Angel of Death is a German soldier that predicts your future by your outer features, by pointing to the left or right. Left meaning death, while right meant hope and life till the next time. This books shows the bravery of many people having nothing but still pushing themselves even if they didn’t know how their future was going to end up to be. I couldn’t even imagine having my life taken away that easily by someone who is killing me because of my religion.
Edith Singer proves her courage by not having her human rights but making the best of it. “Now they are going to put a number on my arm just as though they were branding a cow.”(Pg 54) By being known as a number and not a name takes away your identity and who you are. Not only do you have your individuality taken away, you look identical to everyone else.
My overall view of this book was that I truly enjoyed it. I loved the fact, how Edith was descriptive with every event. When she would be talking about the torture going on, I felt that I could only feel a third of how it truly was. This book has taught me that things can always be worse than they seem. I was very interested in this story from the beginning to the end and I hope other readers enjoy it as much as I did.

March to Freedom will cause you to appreciate everything you have; even the littlest things like soap. This book is a very overwhelming book. It tells the story of a seventeen year old Jewish girl and her experiences in Auschwitz during the Holocaust.
Can you imagine having straight As all throughout your school years and then being forced to stop school because you are Jewish? Or, how about working for all you have and then in a blink of an eye it’s all being taken from you? What about having to say goodbye to your father, brother, uncle, or grandpa knowing that you will never see them again? These are just a few of the cruel occurrences Edith faced throughout this book.
She also writes about the smalls things that have had long term affects on Edith. Standing in lines is one of them; just standing in line to buy a movie ticket brings back memories. Or, how about every time she sees her arm; the tattoo that was given to her is a constant reminder of what she went through. After reading this book you will appreciate your life so much more and the freedoms that you have. Edith is a perfect example of why to never give up!

The novel, March to Freedom, is in my opinion a great testimony of the Holocaust survivor’s. This particular survivor named, Edith Singer, expresses true emotion. “ By writing down my experiences, I let go of some of my painful memories.” This is a story of fear, determination, and freedom. Not only do you read disturbing and heart breaking events, but furthermore a point of view from a survivor who struggled to live on a day to day basis. Edith’s identity and rights were taken away gradually. “ A line of female old-timers holding hair clippers shaved our heads and the hair from the rest of our bodies. We really did not have anything anymore.” Many of us think of tattoo’s to be cool and a piece of art, as for Edith on the other hand, she felt like she was now a permanent record. “I am getting a number, and from now on I will be A-13215. They are dehumanizing me.” Edith did not let this get the best of her. Prisoner’s from all over who were terrified, and who tried to help themselves were usually killed. Instead she avoids being killed .Learning many tactics to manipulate the Nazis. In doing so, now she is determined to survive. Her determination brings her to be very daring; she remains positive. “ We had to learn all these tricks to avoid being caught and punished; it was a part of struggle for survival.” For example, Edith and friends would steal objects for there own use. This was called, “Organizieren.” “ We had various means of obtaining extra food, shoes, a scarf, a needle and thread, and other necessities. Obtaining an object with out stealing from another prisoner was called Organizieren.” If you think about this for one minute, you will come to understand that most people do not have to struggle for life today. Could you imagine being in a position where you have no choice to do as you please. To obey others and pray for the best. Not knowing where the rest of your family is, or if they are even alive. “Not giving into hunger and cold, not breaking down from the grueling work, enduring every imaginable pain, anguish, and torture- that was resistance.” I now have a question for you, have you been through as nearly as much as this in one day? Try for a year. March for twenty-five miles, with no food for days and only a sip of water. Edith was not only a Holocaust survivor, but a fighter. If you have never read a novel or understood the importance of the Holocaust, March to Freedom is a great book to pick up. The Holocaust is a part of history. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Give it a shot!

“March to freedom” is a great book. It tells the story of a young woman that survived the holocaust. This book has a positive attitude throughout all the tragic experiences that Edith Singer endears, for example starvation. Throughout the book Edith remembers that faith is freedom by God, and that courage, is to never give up your life in bad situations. Her mother and sister Lilly helped her survive the death camp, which Mengele controlled.
Edith stayed positive throughout the death camp to keep her from becoming insane and depressed by the situations at hand. She thought that God did not want her to die in the death camp of Germany, so she should never give up in herself. Even though the sleeping arrangements were crowded and the most food you received per day was a small piece of bread and salami. Her mother would sacrifice her bread for her daughters even though “bread meant life”(78) and “hunger overtook all reasoning”(34). This book is about the Edith’s survival of the holocaust and, not her death.

My first reaction to this book is that its going to be just like all the other holocaust books you read in school, but it was the complete opposite. I am not the reader type and I actually enjoyed this book a lot. The details that Edith Singer describes just makes you feel like you’re in the camps right next to her going through the same hardships. And how big of a part family plays in these camps and how that’s all they could think about. It was amazing the optimism that Edith had throughout the whole year she was captured and the outcome of keeping your head high. I don’t think that I could endure that torture and distress that they were put through. If there was a book that I would read again I would pick this one.

March to Freedom, was written as a memoir by a Holocaust survivor, Edith Singer. It goes in detail of what she went through from the beginning of when she is taken away from her home in Chust , Czechoslovakia , to all the she hard times that she had to endure with and without her family in the concentration camps of Auschwitz and the labor camp of Taucha. She was only a young girl when she was taken from her home and forced to listen to listen to the people who the called the Nazi’s.
While she was in Auschwitz she never lost hope and she would always be doing something extra so that she would survive what she is going through. For example, her and some other started something called “Organizieren”, this when she would steal to better herself. When she and the others would so this they wouldn’t steal from others who are stuck in camp with them. One thing that they would steal would extra potatoes and vegetables that have fallen off the truck. She did anything and everything to survive.
. March to Freedom is a really good and easy read. It depicts great details of her past and what she had been through while her stay in the concentrations camps. This book is the first book that I have read from cover to cover, and I am glad that it was. It kept me interested throughout all the pages, and no matter what I kept on reading it. I suggest this book to everyone who enjoys reading.

March to Freedom is about Edith Singer’s remarkable survival of the Holocaust. Her hope and determination is what keeps her strength to continue through horrible torture from the Nazis. Her optimism is contagious not only to characters she meets in the book, but also to the reader. This book is so intriguing, you will not want to put it down until you finish it.

March to Freedom is emotionally and physically inspiring the emotional pain of the Holocaust. It is written in a matter that can affect someone who has no idea of what the circumstances of this horrible event entailed. The author Edith tells her story what she tells from her personal experience the events are mind blowing. Emotion is the key word to say about this book. Cover to cover it conveys emotion. It also coves life lessons small things that people live though today are show, but in a different. From what I take from this book is to be happy with my life situation the book had a great effect on me it made me think what if my life was not as easy and a terrible event would happen to me. This is the type of book that will make a difference in someone’s life and I bet it already has. The author who also lived through the events shows her courage and shows that a person can make if they set their mind to it no matter what. She has inspired me this is a great book everyone should read it to get a better perspective on life. It is a must read book I am not much of a reader, but this book is wroth reading. March to Freedom is about the Holocaust and its events, but the personal story is much deeper.

I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who is interested in what went on during the holocaust and the specific events that occurred. Edith Singer has a great ability to explain in detail what exactly went on inside the many concentration camps. She makes you feel as if you were really there and watching the horrific torturing with your own two eyes. Edith Singer is a remarkable and brave person because of her courage. Being one of the few survivors from the Holocaust and still living to this day is truly a miracle. She deserves every bit of it too because she stayed strong during those harsh conditions. I don’t think I could ever survive a year without food, shelter and not knowing where my family was. I now look up to Edith because of how positive and brave she stayed during a time where most people lost hope and gave up. She is truly an outstanding and heroic person.

March To Freedom by Edith Singer is a book that will take you through emotional ups and downs. It starts by introducing a young girl named Edith and her family who live in a small town of Chust, Czechoslovakia. Edith always heard of the war while growing up (World War I) and how people always talked about if there would be another one. Then one day the life Edith had been living had been turn upside down. The town she lived in was invaded by Germans, and all the Jewish people were taking away. Edith and her family were taken away to death camps. Edith was separated from her father and brother but was able to be kept with her sister and mother where they went to Auschwitz. As you read through the first chapters you will learn what is was like to be a young Jewish girl inside a death camp. And how a positive attitude can literally be the difference between life and death. You will live the life of this young girl and find out how insignificant some of the problems in your life really are. Later Edith will be separated from her mother and sister and sent to a work camp in Tauchua, Germany. Where you will be able to see what it was like at the age of 17 to be alone with no family not knowing if they are alive or dead working in a camp. Then the day will come for the march to freedom. I can not say what happens on this march for I would like everyone to read this book and find out. I hope anyone that reads this book enjoys it and always has a new perspective on life and what some people have to go through in their life. March To Freedom was truly inspirational and I was honored for Edith to share her experience with the world.

This memior does not only describe the brave journey of a young girl, but helps the reader find strength in themselves. I read this and found some of Edith in myself, just on a different level. Edith starts the book out in her home town, comfortable and safe, just as you feel now. Then during World War II the Nazis invaded her, along with all the other Jews’, town of Chust and removed them into a Ghetto. From the Ghetto everyone was then separted and sorted like cattle and forced to live in remote Concentration Camps under unimaginable. Her courage to never give up hope, and her strength encouraged what was left of her family and those around her, to keep going. She risked her life in numerous circumstances for the sake of survival. The conditions in which she, and millions of other Jews, were forced to live in are devastating. The only way to fully absorb and understand these horrendous conditions is to read this memior. However, this book did not soley make me feel depressed, it also gave me hope that anything is possible. Also, I realized that no matter how horrible a condition may seem at the time, things will always get better; you just need to believe.

Imagine having everything you’ve grown to know and love completely stripped away from your life. Imagine being enslaved, beaten, starved, humiliated and completely dehumanized. Would you be able to find the strength within yourself to go on living? Or would you lose all hope and die?
This truly amazing book is a testament of hope. “March to Freedom” really emphasizes the capacity of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strength that many of us have within. The main character, Edith, sets the example of endurance, hope, and the will to survive.
Edith Singer was exiled from her home, stripped from all her belongings, separated from her family, continuously persecuted, and deprived from every fundamental need to live. Yet, throughout her horrific ordeal, she managed to keep herself and many others, optimistic and hopeful through her words and actions which ensured their survival.

March to freedom was one of the most inspirational books that I’ve read in a long time. Edith Singer had to endure a lot while being a victim of the holocaust. Everyday going through things that would’ve made a lot of people want to kill themselves. Edith’s positive attitude throughout the book kept her strong and very optimistic that someday the war would be over and that she would be a survivor. Throughout the book Edith showed bravery, courage, and strength to get through that horrible time. The guards who watched over them treated the as if they were not people anymore but more like they were puppets and would make them do anything they said. Sundays were suppose to be the best days for them because they got to see and talk to family members, but Sunday was just another easy way for the guards to kill the prisoners in front of their family. Towards the ending of them book they had to walk up to 25 miles a day and wouldn’t get food for like two weeks. Overall I think this is a great book and I would recommend it to everyone and especially to someone who thinks that they a going through a horrible time.

The Holocaust is a historical event that will never be forgotten; especially for Edith Singer. In March to Freedom, Edith Singer experienced cruel, vicious, and heartbreaking events in her life that made her the person she is today. Although Edith was not completely sure that she and her family were going to survive the Holocaust, she kept a positive outlook on every single thing that she witnessed in Auschwitz, the concentration camp. The day Edith was given hope to live was the day she got tattooed; A-13215. This tattooed number was an eye opener to Edith, as she states, “they could not take away my will to live. They could not take my human dignity. As long as I am alive, I am a human being.” From that day on, Edith felt the need to take risks and remain optimistic throughout this tragic time. Her hopeful expectations helped her remain sane, and not lose faith. Rachel, one of the many Jewish girls in Taucha told Edith, “God is here, you must not lose hope.” Rachel’s perspective on the Holocaust and the war convinced Edith that “God was not to blame”, and to remain strong until the war was over. March to Freedom makes reader’s feel extremely fortunate and thankful for the life they live today; it is an inspirational, emotional story for readers all over the world.

The book March to Freedom, by Edith Singer, was amazing. It was a very easy read and truly enjoyable. Throughout the entire book i was thinking, “Wow, would I have done that?” In the book a Holocaust survivor tells, in detail, her amazing survival story. Edith was a sixteen year old girl when she had gotten kicked out of her house and thrust into Auschwitz, a concentration camp. They were completely dehumanized. Their living conditions were awful. They reveived hardly enough food to survive, no showers, and fifteen girls to one bed. Edith was very brave and courageous throughout the book. Whenever she could, she would steel anything that she knew would be useful to her, though she knew if she were caught she would be killed. Edith looked out not only for herself, but for those around her. She stole a shirt for her sister whens hers had been stolen. At the end, while “marching to freedom” she jumped onto the trucks and stole blankets to give to the ohters because it was raining. She was also very optimistic. She knew once they gave her the tattoo that they needed her, and were not going to kill her. I liked this book because it tells you just how hard it was to survive and put my life into perspective.

In the story there is a girl named Edith Singer that is 16 years old that gets put into a concentration camp, known as Auschwitz. She describes the struggles she has to go through on a day to day bases, “ They gave us large shovels and several wheel barrows and told us to clean the latrine; we looked at each other in shock. I almost vomited from the stench, but i knew there was no turning back.” she describes the hardship she went through and the blaming of one another, “You dirty Jew!” She yelled at me. “Because of you, i am here in this camp.” She fought and fought back making plans on ways to survive. Through this story you read a lot of negative but then again you are reading from a tough little girl that survives the Holocaust and lives on to tell her story. I recommend this book to people that like to read about peoples lives and what they went through. Also ill add that the book was hard to put down because you always wanted to know what was going to happen next.

March to Freedom is a memoir of the Holocaust written by Edith Singer. Edith gives a first-hand account of her experience in Auschwitz at the age of 16. She describes the daily life of the death camp, meals, roll call, selections, tattoos, sabotage, miracles and her eventual freedom. Despite all of the hardships and torment she goes through, Edith manages to stay positive and survive. The Nazis stripped Jews of their rights and slowly took away their identity. “The guards told us to undress and stand in line, I felt shocked, embarrassed, and frightened.” The prisoners who were always terrified or never tried to help themselves were most likely to be killed. Edith avoids being killed by learning tricks and remaining positive. “We had to learn all these tricks to avoid being caught and punished; it was part of struggle for survival.” When SS guards were bored they would randomly pick off prisoners and shoot them to death. Jews were looked at as scapegoats and many people blamed them for starting the war. Edith Singer was so brave and courageous, she would pull of the most dangerous tasks just to help herself and her friends survive another day. “I looked around, making sure no one was watching, and grabbed a blanket from a moving wagon.” March to Freedom is a fantastic book and I would recommend it because, despite all the negative aspects eventual positive comes out.

In the tribute book March To Freedom by Edith Singer, there is constant stimulation to all aspects of emotion. This book puts today’s problems into perspective. I personally think that this book was very well written, and influential.
Opening the book with an emphasis on the importance of hope, Singer explains the dramatic changes how she had to endure changes while under German control.
Throughout the book there are constant highlights of faith. When Singer finds herself in the worst case scenarios, she always has an underline base of hope. As the book continues it points out Singer’s will to cope and survive through such a traumatic ordeal. This book allows the readers to relate to the writing, and realize the difference between two different life styles.
Overall, I believe that this book is an inspirational book. Based off a true story, it puts life into perspective. I believe that Singer did an amazing job at capturing all aspects of emotion and faith. I truly urge people to read it.

“We will obey the rules and we will survive” says Shabtai, Edith’s father, right before they are separated to go to the camps. Edith did the exact opposite by damaging the anti-tank missile, stealing clothing and food for her, her family, and people who she became close to in the camps. If she would have gotten caught the punishment wouldn’t be a slap on the hand, it would be death. She is a very quick thinker and survived because she played her cards right. This book will inspire you to fight for your religion and really make you realize how lucky you are. It is an amazing book!

March to freedom can be an ode to the human spirit; it is caurageous, truthful, amazing, and it shows our own capability. The main character Edith and her family were in her hometown of Chust. They knew that the war was all around them, but what they didn’t know was it would soon be upon their own doorstep. If by some reason you would think that your life is rough and you wish it would be easy, just give this book a chance and you’ll see your life differently. Think about what you love to do on Sundays and then see what Edith had to go through. She had a gruesome experience; just imagine watching one of your good friends getting a bullet through his or her head. Or would you ever think of sabotaging a major world army. Would you even think about saying goodbye too your family and probably never seeing them again. This is only a small part of what Edith went through, not to mention walking 25 miles a day with one drink of water and only a small piece of bread a day. If you ever wanted a good read and to have something to make you think about your own life, then give this book a try.

Amazing,Breath Taking, and Scary are words that I think of when I read March To Freedom.Edith Singer is the author and the main girl telling her tragic and amazing story. In this great novel all of these people went through so much.To be sent to a concentration camp like a prisoner was horrible, when they did nothing wrong. For this young woman at that time being 16 was probably the most horrible life expieriance. She and millions of jewish people were shaved from head to toe and stripped from there identities, they were physically abused and had horrible sleeping conditions. As time passed the jews were taken to another concentration camp and at this time they got a tattoo on there arm which identified them.Edith at the young age that she was had to be brave and In this story she was amazing being able to survive this tragic time. For myself reading this novel has been a great expieriance because it shows you that life is not so bad for people in this world today. And if she could go through this at such a young age and live to tell a story than this should become a must read novel. This novel March To Freedom is a great eye opener to anyone and everyone.

The march to freedom is a spectacular book that leads you through a day by day struggle that most people can never say they’ve encountered. The devastating tragedy that the Jews had to endure really opens the mind of readers to what really took place all those years ago. Edith Singer said, “ This book is about how we lived, not how we died.” Words can’t express how much emotions she must have felt writing this book, but Edith says, “By writing down my experiences, I let go of some of the painful memories.” Since this book shares all her experiences, it’s a great book to read.

In the past I have never been a fan of reading, and im not going to lie, I never even like the books I am required to read for school. After reading March to Freedom, my perspective has changed on required reading, I am even looking forward to the next book I have to read because it is similar to March to Freedom. March Freedom has inspired me to become a better person just by reading about Edith Singers life and the struggles and challenges she overcame to survive the holocaust. This book is inspiring because Edith tells us readers her story. She gives us information on the holocaust that we would never even imagine. You would think being sick, or having no clothes or having nothing to sleep on was one of the worst things about concentration camps but hunger was the worst thing to bear with. After surviving the concentration camps things never even improved. The survivors would walk up to 25 miles going in circles daily because the Germans did not know what to do. I suggest you read this book because it gives you astonishing information about what went on during the holocaust and is a very interesting book.

The book “March to Freedom” is an amazing book told by Edith Singer, who shares all of her tragic experiences from the holocaust. Edith shares her very important qualities with her family and friends to give them the strength to survive. Her most important quality is her optimism. Without it, Edith would have had a very difficult time surviving.
Edith was always taking the positives from the negative situations. For instance, Edith was called for an appell, and during the appell they all got their tattoos. She was scared and upset. She thought to her self, “they are dehumanizing me. I will not be a person anymore, only a number” (55). After they got done tattooing her, she felt hopeful. She says “I’m alive! They could not take away my will to live. They could not take away my human dignity. As long as I’m alive, I am a human being” (55). No matter what, Edith finds a positive side to whatever would bring her down.
At the very beginning of the book, Edith states, “this book is how we lived, not how we died” (prologue). This quote shows the optimism that Edith showed throughout the book.

Where does a story truly begin? In life, there are certain moments that will stay in your memory for a lifetime. This is, above all, a true story of how you should not take life for granted. March To Freedom is courageous, inspiring, and thought provoking because it is a story of a young girl who struggles to make it to the end alive. Edith Singer started her life not knowing what tragedy would happen next. Edith and her family lived in the small town of Chust and then were sent to Auschwitz in the year 1944 where they became part of the Holocaust. The Holocaust was one of the most memorable times in World War Two. Not only did the Nazi’s take away your homes, shops, and families but most important, your dignity. Edith, along with thousands of other innocent Jews were tortured for more than an entire year at the concentration camp. Imagine only receiving barely enough food to survive, showering two times in the entire year, were shot for no reason, and got separated from your loved ones. This story, like so many other stories, is rooted in tragedy. At the same time, it is also a story of forgiveness and hope.

March of Freedom has a lot of history to look at, it’s inspiring in a way that makes you think that how can a girl so young survive this terrifying time and she even helped others older then her and younger then her. Edith Singer and her family were taken from there home town not knowing if they were going to survive, stay as a family or even know where exactly they were going. Edith stayed strong through most of the Holocaust even while people around her were giving up hope and causing problems even though they were all there not because of the Jews but because of an evil man. To me this book was very inspirational I loved it personally it showed me that problems we face now don’t compare to the hardship Edith and her family had to go through.

March to Freedom is an uplifting story about a girl named Edith that goes through and survives Hitler’s Death Camps. In the begging of the story, Edith talks about her life in Chust, Czechoslovakia before the war. She talks how she lived like a normal person and how she was striped from her human rights and treated like an animal in Hitler’s Death Camps. In detail, Edith tells us about what she experienced in the camps. From the very first day she arrived in Auschwitz to the Final March to Freedom.
This truly is a breath-taking book and I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about a miracle.

March to Freedom is an inspiring book. There are vast of details that can be disturbing, but that’s what makes the book interesting. Edith went to a concentration camp at 16 years old and never gave up. There were many hardships she had to overcome. For example, sleeping in Auschwitz was devastating because there were seventeen people in a wooden plank. When one person wanted to turn they all had to turn. Edith had faith at all time when something bad happen she would always try to find the good in it. The Jews would organize throughout the camp for what they needed or wanted. A spiritual prisoner gathered months of her meals to trade for a Jewish bible. When Edith was sent to work at Taucha she began sabotaging the Germans. Karma came into play towards the end of the war, Germans wrote on the walls, “we will not surrender,” and that reinforced Edith. She was a courageous, optimistic, bold, many reasons why I look up to her. Anyone who reads this book can get something out of it. From personal experience not to long ago I realized that anything could happen when you least expect it and from this book I get courage, if Edith was able to be optimistic I can too.

March to Freedom was a great inspiring book to read. A girl by the name of Edith Singer tells readers her life story of when she was sixteen and could not live a normal life for a year straight like people today. During her time in Auschwitz, Edith had seen many horrific things happen. All of the Jews including her own family were treated like dogs and had no rights what so ever. To be able to live through a whole year of hell with barely any food and practically no showers, Edith to this day is grateful for everything she has and what she appreciates most in life is her family. While in Auschwitz, Edith never lost her faith, even when she didn’t know whether her family was still alive or not when she was sent to a different camp to work on weapons for the Germans. Edith will never forget how cruel the Germans were and how they got entertainment out of randomly killing Jews on Sundays. I’m sure to this day; it’s hard for Edith to not hold grudges on German people. At some points it was hard reading this book, but I recommend other people reading it to show how good some people have it these days and need to learn how important family really is.

Either singer showed strength and cougar while going through the holocaust. Every time something bad would happen she would think postively. She would always find anyway to survive, when they were on the march and she was passing every women a blanket it that showed she would do anything to keep warm. She didnʼt really care about what would happen to her if she were caught, she just wanted to make it out alive. In chapter 9 she says I couldnʼt afford to be upset because it wouldnʼt help me. This shows that she always tries to stay positive no matter what is going on. The things she did to stay alive were very brave. When she built her part of weapon the wrong way that was very brave because if she were caught she would have been killed. I like this book very much I think she is brave to tell her story about a bad experience that she went through. I think it was sad how she kept dreaming that her was coming home and she waited but he never came home. I would read it again because it was enjoyable.

The novel, March to Freedom, written by Edith Singer, is truly an inspirational novel to all readers. The novel is about Edith’s “march to freedom,” during the holocaust. It is a remarkable novel that can inspire anyone.
During the year she was imprisoned, she remained optimistic. Her optimistic views show her strength. Edith shows her optimism when she isn’t upset about her tattoo. Instead of looking at it as a dehumanizing event, she looks at it optimistically. If they wanted to kill her, she wouldn’t have been given a tattoo. Edith says, “They could not take away my will to live. They could not take away my human dignity. As long as I am alive, I am a human being.” By staying head strong and optimistic, she survived. Edith would also do very daring things. She would misalign the plates while making the missiles in the factory; therefore, the missiles would misfire. She would steal food from the Germans, and steal blankets off the back of the German trucks. It took a lot of courage and bravery to do these things. It is her optimism, courage, bravery, and strength that makes her an inspiration to all.

March to Freedom is an anticipating book. It shows you what the Jews went through in the holocaust. From the concentration camps to the unbearable hunger; these people will show what the word survival means. March to Freedom is a personal history; of one Jew named Edith Slomovits , that gives you a first hand account of the holocaust.
It is surprising how quickly a whole race can be taken away from their homes over war. They had to endure the Germans decisions between life or death by gas chambers. They were given meager meals only once or twice a day. Their bones even ached horribly from the inhumane living conditions.
I liked this story because it inspired me to have strength. It also taught me about the history of the holocaust. This story will teach you about an important piece of history as well as what people had to endure just for being Jewish.

Edith always heard of the war while growing up (World War I) and how people always talked about if there would be another one. Then one day the life Edith had been living had been turned upside down.

March to Freedom is an all around inspiring book. Edith Singer is a prime example of a strong young lady who turns in to an even stronger and more independent woman. She was placed in a horrifying situation during the holocaust between death camps and loosing her family, she still never gave up. She always looked at the glass half full rather than half empty. Not everyone can be as courageous as she was, and now days we are not as optimistic. If we all gave it a try I am sure that we would appreciate things a lot more.
Even though the war was against the Jewish people, Edith singer refused to let them win or “take her pride.” She knew that if she disobeyed the SS officers she would get shot and die. But at some points she put her life on the line and took a chance. When she was sent away form Auschwitz and moved to a labor camp she tricked the Nazis. She would not work as hard as she was told but yet still mark down that she was. Or she would make them wrong so that they would fail to work. This was her way of getting back at them, she felt accomplished when she did this.
If you have not yet read this book I strongly recommend you do, it will help you realize that you life is not even close to half bad. It will show you how lucky you are to have all of the things that you have and how you should be grateful.

The story of The March To Freedom by Edith Singer, was probably the most spectacular books I have ever read. It made me really think of my life now, and gave me a reason to appreciate it a way more then I do. The book relates to a girl named Edith, who is basically suffering a time of hatred from the Germans to the Jews during the War. I couldn’t believe that such a little girl could really deal with being separated from all of her family and living on her own with no hardly any food. Edith had to stay so strong, and live her life the best way she could. On her journey she met many people, some who stayed alive, and many who died. The Nazis were horrible people, and would beat, murder and shoot the Jewish prisoners for fun.
I thought that living in these harsh conditions was enough for the Jews, but obviously not. During the book, Edith gets really sick and is sent to a doctor. There she rests until she is better and meets a lot of people. She finds socks in another room and decides to keep them. Later, when another girl asks who took her socks, and then finds them, Edith was shocked and believed it was a miracle from God. This is my favorite part about the book because it makes her stronger and believe that there is hope for survival and God is on her side.
I honestly recommend this book from everyone to read. Not only do you feel like your in the chapters, you have a better outlook on life. I honestly really learned a lot about the history of the holocaust and a time that only this story can describe. Of course you must read the book to learn everything but just the extraordinary words at the beginning of the book “This book is about how we lived, not how we died.” gives the reader hope and shows that there really are miracles.

It starts off by talking about her life in Chust, her home town. It instantly changes; chapter two is about her arriving at Auschwitz and getting seperated from her dad and brother, and what she doesn’t know is she will never see them again. If your looking for a book with bravery, courage, strength, and hope in a really difficult time period then “March to Freedom” is perfect. Edith sabotages the Nazi army by making defective missles. She also looked at the tattoo the Nazi’s gave her as a sign that she wont die. And to top it off the “March to Freedom” as Edith calls it, was a 25 mile march everyday for about 2 weeks only getting one piece of bread every other day. Yet she stole blankets to keep warm and even jumped on the truck to save energy. Edith subtly fought the Nazi’s the whole year she was in camp by not giving in.

During that time she was a prisoner, Edith stated, “I will not listen to people who are pessimistic and who do not believe in a future. If god wants me to die, then it can happen anytime, anywhere, even after the war, even on my way home. But if god wants me to live, no German or anyone else can harm me.” Her devotion to god and her expectations in life are what kept her going. She risked her own life to help not only her mother and sister, but also her fellow prisoners and I found that to be beyond courageous. March to Freedom makes realize that you should not take things for granted, but instead appreciate everything that you have. And maybe if you just keep hope and faith in your vocabulary, you might be able to overcome anything no matter how difficult or impossible it seems.

March to Freedom is one of the most inspirational books any reader can read. The way a young lady by the name of Edith Singer goes through many tough challenges just to stay alive. This book teaches everybody a lesson to not take anything for granted. Edith shows that hope is a big part of everyone’s life. Throughout this book, hope is the only thing these people have. During her stay at Auschwitz, a war was erupted by the Nazis and the Russians. Edith never gave up and believed that she would be able to stop it by sabotaging. Rarely would anybody even today would have the courage to destroy military equipment just to stop a way. Sundays for people are usually a relaxing day. Unfortunately, Sundays for the people in the camps mean death. This book can change someone’s life on how they see things today. This book is very inspirational and well worth any readers time.

“I cried so much at that time that I used up all of my tears for a lifetime,” said Edith Singer, who was a survivor of the Holocaust. Before reading this book you might see your life difficult to live through, but once you give this book a chance you will never look at your life the same way ever again. Imagine being a sixteen year old person going through day-to-day horrifying inhuman conditions. “Instead, I blamed the Germans for my being in a concentration camp, for being separated from my family, for being so very hungry, cold, and miserable.” Imagine being so young, and being the only one who helped other prisoners get food to live. Or even better yet; sabotaging the war that you are helping the enemy fight, by making defective bombs. How would you like to go to the restroom once a day, be referred to as a number and not a name, get separated from the only family you have left after they already took the men away from every family? After everything she went through, she was still able to escape and not to mention, escape by walking 25 miles a day with one drink of water and only a small piece of bread per day. All the Holocaust books are written in a sad and negative note. Edith wrote this book in a positive note. She said, “This book is about how we lived, not how we died.”

March To Freedom is an inspiring story, and an insight into the gruesome reality of the Holocaust. In the prologue, Edith Singer starts the book off with, “This book is about how we lived, not how we died,” which is completely true about her story. From the strength she had for her sister Lilly and mother in Auschwitz providing them with food and clothing ; to her bravery and cleverness in sabotaging the German’s missiles in a labor factory. The only downfall to this book is that it’s short; nevertheless, it’s a story that is sure to captivate your heart and mind.

Remarkable. Courageous. Inspiring. These are only a few of the many words that ran through my head while reading March to Freedom. Edith Singer, is a woman I definitely look up to after surviving the horrific time. Throughout the Holocaust and being a victim, she stayed optimistic which I believe helped her survive. As some of the prisoners around her were negative, she thought to herself and said, “I will not listen to people who are pessimistic and who do not believe in a future” and she did believe in a future which helped her along this miserable journey. Not only was she optimistic, but brave; she took risks. At the end, when they departed from the camp sites, the prisoners traveled on feet for long distances. There were wagons that held supplies and when she felt tired she would hop onto the back to give her body a rest, and she would be instantly be shot if the S.S. soldiers saw this but they never did. The book is a must read. It makes you realize life isn’t so bad or tough as most people think. Edith endured the Holocaust for a little over a year and never gave up, she consistency held her head up high.
